Nanticoke River, MD/DE

Chesapeake Bay Eastern Shore tidal river, you are launching in Broad Creek, about 25 miles upriver from the bay.Tons of pad fields and laydowns to fish, most are best on low tide. Narrow river, 100 yards most places, but deep, well marked channel. They push commercial Barges up to Seaford, De. from the bay. Ton of fish, but most are small 12″ – 14 ” ( 12″ size limit . )Most tournaments are won with 8 – 12 pounds, occasionally 14.Have You been on the River before ?

Have not been down there since late last summer but I have done well there in the past fishing black spinnerbaits, black buzzbaits, Chartreuse blue, chartreuse black back shallow cranks. Hit all the small feeder creek mouths when the tide is going out. When the tide is low back off the shoreline to the first steep drop before the depth maxes out in the channel and throw cranks and blue fleck plastics on that first drop. When the tide is high you can flip the edges and back into the spatterdock.Hit any wood that you see where there is sufficient water to hold fish. You would be surprised how shallow those fish can get. The Delaware Federation has done a tremendous job with their stocking program over the past years. I would say that in a couple more years it will be a fantastic tidal fishery
