Need help or wife is going to make me get rid of my new Puma!!!

I need help in getting my rear butt seat pedestal out of the deck so I can put in the sit down seat for when my wife fishes with me. I tried for 45 minutes Fri nite ans was not successful so wife had to fish with butt seat. She wasnt happy and told me that if I cant fix it for the next time I will have to get rid of the boat and get one like the old boat where I can change the seats out. I need to know if theres a trick to it short of dynamite of taking it to Mt. Home and having the factory do it for me. Larry Brumley

My O7 Puma had the same issue only on the front bushing just ahead of the cooler, for whatever reason, just keep messing with it and a little slicone spray along with WD-40 worked for me.Chuck

Put a rag around it and use a pipe wrench, or big channel locs and work it around while pulling up. eliminate this in the future by using a bit of vasoline on the bushing. Or you can do like i do and let it stick, therefor eliminating the possibility of someone “borrowing” youre seat !

Rope it to a backhoe, apply some up pressure,, then twist with a wrench. It worked for me.

NO! No pipe wrench! This is a new boat and the collet ring is a security feature that you just have to wiggle a bit to get it loose. There is a small grip ring that holds it in place to prevent the pins from popping out in rough water. If its too tight then it needs addressing. Give the factory a buzz and they will be glad to help! BCB

My rear seat pole stuck on my Puma, so I got my big strong son to manually twist it enough to squirt some WD-40 around the pole. I let it set for a while, and then put down a thin piece of plywood and used a small pry-bar (e.g. small crow bar) and worked my way 360 degrees with it until I got it up about 1/2″ or so. Spray more WD-40 and she finally twisted out by hand. I went to my wire brush grinder wheel and gave it a shine, and it was okay after that. When they get wet or sit for awhile, they get mung on them and they stick…Gary Hollander

Mine was very tough. I just pulled up steadily and it eventually came. No threat of ever “falling out”. I mean I had to but some serious a$$ into getting it out, but no backhoe, even though I think that idea is “good”.Britt

I was telling my wife about this thread this morning while we were covering up the boat. She remembered our stuck pole, but also remembered that Windex was what we finally used to get it unstuck. After teaching Kindergarten for 25 years, she knows all too well about sticky and slippery stuff!Spray a little windex on the pole if the WD-40 doesnt work…
