Freezing rain and 1″to 6″ snow predicted for parts north Alabama Wed. afternoon. Georgia is worse. Google TV stations in Atlanta for reports, its a very serious event.http://www.wunderground.com/news/winter … s-20140210
Im in south Alabama and its find just rainy. We are having lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s but Birmingham area is having a good ICE STORM as Im typing this.
Most likely if they arent leaving until Wednesday evening, things will be okay by the time they get into the Carolinas and areas on south.

What will be bad by the time they get there is probably power outages I would guess. Unless they get a ton of snow. Ice will be gone fairly quickly from the road surfaces once it warms up a little which I think its supposed to do Thursday isnt it. No doubt the storm will cause things to be very bad in Georgia for a day or so at least. Hope all those folks are prepared.
Its going to get real bad. Were looking at over an inch of ice tonight from midnight on here in Atlanta and even probably worse toward Augusta. If they really must go – this may sound wrong but probably going through Atlanta may be better than through Columbia/Augusta since the last storm caused such a pile up they will be over salting the roads here.Thursday high is 48 F, but dont ask this southern boy about driving on ice.Hopefully they will bring tire chains?Last edited by 1958 on February 11th, 2014, 11:59 pm, edited 1 time in total.

High 31deg. Wednesday in Atlanta, not much will melt. I would advise no travel, but my snow shovel is a pitch fork.http://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:30301.1.99999

Live 15 miles from I 95 just north of SC line. Tomorrow is going to be a bad day to travel. Snow in the am then turning to sleet and freezing rain. Expecting .50 to .75 inches of ice, .25 snaps power lines, throughout the I 95 corridor in NC. Their drive thru Va. will mostly be snow, then changing to sleet and freezing rain mid NC. Hope this helps. 3 inches of snow on the ground today.
