Need opinions on 999 mounting

Ended up with a Humminbird 999ci HDSI for Christmas. Looking for opinions on mounting. Should I just have it flush mounted in place of the 788 or should I leave the 788 for mapping and ram mount the 999? Never had dual units at the console. Will I really be missing anything just staying with a single? I do like the look of one flush mount in the console.Here is what it should look like. Year model? They will not flush mount in earlier year models and there is a pocket above the steering wheel for the installation of a Medium or Small RAM mount.

2014 PII AE. I can order a Sherms mount if I need to. Im guessing this pocket is behind the gel?

It will fit in a 14 P2 AE no problems.

Like BCB said, itll flush mount. But, Ill throw out an option. If you use a Sherms Mount, you can remove very easily and swap with a bow mounted 800 or 900 series Graph. I like this option, for reliability. If Im ever on an unfamiliar lake, and my console graph happened to cramp out… I can “relocate” my bow graph to the console in about a minute.

Plus I could remove it easily for service(hopefully not for many years) and security reasons. I went ahead and filled out Sherms order form and will be emailing them Monday to see if I can have a slight adjustment made. Now if I can just figure out if I can do this install myself or have the dealer do it. Never installed anything like this on a nice glass boat and my last boat already had the SI transducer mounted.

Also I think you will like the Sherms Mount better than a flush mount graph too.Dan

Ive done a little here and there. Be sure to use a Y adapter from Humminbird so your console graph can share the thru hull transducer as well as the jack plate mounted side imaging transducer. Their Ethernet cable allows both units to share waypoints.

Thanks. Ill order the Y-cable and I guess the jackplate mount from TS&S. The ethernet cable should be at home by the time I get back, itll be linked to the 788ci up front until I can upgrade that one also.Thanks for tips. Now I just have to play the waiting game.
