Since Cooper has quit making the Cobra in P205/75/15, what are you all using? Seems everyone has a love/hate relationship with the Marathons.Thanks, Al

Just been checking boards, and some people seem to have wear issues with them. My Marathons are 5 years old, and although I maintain my boat and trailer religiously, the the Marathons look iffy at best. Low tread and cracked sidewalls.Copper still makes the P215/70R15 97 T. Just wasnt sure they would fit the factory mod wheels and the trailer wheel wells.Thanks, Al

Lately on bassboatcentral.com thereve been a few guys post some pictures of their Marathon tires that have flown apart or blown out. Ive had them on several trailers and have had no issues. Youve got to remember that I doubt anyone takes a picture of a tire that hasnt blown out and posted it on a forum. Ive got the Coopers on my current Cat trailer and they are fine. Id say if youve got tires that are 5 years old, it would be wise to replace them anyway. Getting cracks on the side walls isnt uncommon. My wifes 2006 VW Beetle has Michelins on it…they have a few cracks in the sidewalls too and they only have about 15,000 miles on them, but they are the original tires too, so theyre 4 years old.

I agree with billius that somel tires will have some cracking. I had the same issue on my truck with some BF Goodrich tires that were less than 1 year old and. had small cracking around the rim on all 4 tires and the factory rep said it is not uncommon for this to happen. Also said that some tire shine dressings will also cause this to happen. The rep said as long as the cracks were not large and in the actual sidewall of the tires where most of the flexing occurs he was not concerned. Just sharing some former information.Thanks

Armorall on tires will premature craze tires from drying. Good point! The silicone sprays are best and tires do not weather as they did years ago. We suspect similar changes to compounds as we have all faced in our green society.
