Should I walk away from the parts and run as is or should I purchase the parts? (Your vote has been cast.)Total votes: 31 Buy the parts and update the engine to the newer years 10(32%) Run what you have and enjoy it. 21(68%)You may select 1 optionI am running a late 90s 250 EFI and have the option to upgrade several major parts which would put me fairly close to what a 250 XB is. I have already installed new composite reeds and have a short tuner. My top speed now with a stock 26 Trophy is just about 75 but I am only 100 rpms below the limiter.
I say do the upgrades. But, Thats because Im a tinkerer and like to get the most out of my setups. Ultimatley you are the one who has to be happy so none of us can really answer the question for you.Chris CoupelPaulina, la.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.

The GM was out of the office on Thursday and I was told I would hear from them on Friday. I got a call from the head hunter on Friday telling me that so far they hadnt gotten a call but to not be concerned (easy for them to say!) For all I know the GM may not have made it into the shop on Friday so all I can hope for is to hear something tomorrow. I am keeping a positive outlook on this, I know where I stand as far as abilities and training and no one is even close. I was also told that due to me they will be hiring 2, one fo the original field tech position and then me.
You have to go with what your pocket book will allow. I like speed as well as the next guys since I am one of the old drag race freaks from the muscle car days of the 60s, but age has also brought upon me the sense of practicability and safety. Tight lines my friend!!
I am probably out of line here, but I just dont see spending for upgrades when you already have an updated boat that rides with the best of them. I just do not feel you will get much return out of investing in upgrades to that particular engine when it comes to resale. It is a beautiful boat (my 97 PII had the same colors) and looks only a couple of years old. Just enjoy it……….96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Ditto on just enjoy it. If your situation were different Id say go ahead and play away. Since I know the hard times you have had Id say enjoy what you have and save those bucks in case you need them. I hope you get that call back.
