Can anyone tell me what I need to network my HDS 8 to my HDS5? Just purchased the 8 and would like to link the two. I bought the NMEA starter kit but not sure if that will do what I want. Just looking to share info between the two units such as waypoints and maybe sonar so the person fishing on back can view the sonar as well. Need any advice I can get. Thanks and God BlessJames

If you have the LSS1 then all you need is the ethernet cable and they will share waypoints and you can have side and down scan on both units

We prefer the Ethernet cable set up, though you should be able to network with your NMEA kit.

I do not have Structure Scan yet. I will buy it LSS-1 in August. So would I benefit more from just the Ethernet cables? If I go the Ethernet route what will I need to just Network the two units?

The ethernet cable simply runs from the ethernet plug on the rear of one unit to the ethernet plug on the back of the other

With only the ethernet cable between the units, it will automatically share waypoints and you can select to view either sonar. It is a little complicated but you can set the bow sonar to display what the console (rear transducer) is showing, and vice versa. What is complicated (for me) is figuring out which one needs to change back, so I never use that feature.Each unit will save a waypoint created from the other unit, and each will delete one deleted from the other. If one sonar is off and a waypoint is saved or deleted from the other unit, it will update when the unit is turned on. Pretty neat, all with only the ethernet cable.
