New 250 Pro XS for 06 Puma

Man o Man!!!!!!!!!!! I got my new engine today and did the break in. After I finished I let her eat for the last 2 miles, and oh my goodness what a difference from a 225 pro XS to a 250. I hit 80 and still had trim and water pressure to spare. Of course I had no tackle or rods in the boat and only 25 gallons of gas. But my gosh was it fast. I think I am going to try the 27 Trophy that came with it next time. I was right at 5900 rpms with my 26 trophy with little to no rooster tail, and high water pressure. But the oil was getting low and did not want it to run out so my break in came to an exhilarating stop. Shawn

Shawn, congrats on the new motor. Sounds like you got a running machine there. Should be able to run into the low 80s when you put that 27 on there. Take care and good luck Joey

Please be careful as things can happen much faster at 80 than at 70.

Sean, The popularity of the 250 engines is very strong right now. Though it does have some cautioning that comes along with the 250. As Phil says above, we are very serious when we say, BE CAREFUL! Work your way up and get to know your boat and those characteristics at all speeds. you now have a pocket ride. Think about driving your vehicle 80 MPH on a paved and known highway. That should give you some understanding. Things are often encountered in a boat that were not there the last time. Boat wakes, obstructions and etc. Just refer to the cautions you would use in your vehicle and multiply the possibilities. Gotta be safe out there! BCB

Thanks for the concern, and it is truly noted. It is a huge difference between 72-73 and 80. Kind of like like flying low level over Baghdad.

EVERY TIME I HEAR 80 AND OVER I WONDER,,,,,WHAT DO I NEED ON THE BACK OF MY LITTLE WILLOW.?…. A HEMI?????? A YAMAHA 350???? CAUSE MINE SURE WONT EVEN GET CLOSE TO 80…..ALL PHIL COULD GET WAS 75……. COULD THE LITTLE YELLOW HAMMER BE SICK?????IT HAS A 27 TROPHY…..NOW I DID HAVE A HOT ROD WITH THE PUMPED UP 05 250XS AND IT WAS FAST ON MY 05 PUMA……MAYBE SOMEONE COULD BE OF ASSISTANCE……I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO SAY MINE IS FAST ALSO. Even if yours did 90 you wouldnt know it. Heck, you cant drive one over 65 and you only do that once per year. In all honesty you need to do some setup work on yours. Have you ever done that? Tideman, its probably because of being in Alabama? I think all things are a little slower there in Alabama. Us guys here in Ark are hitting 80s. Gotta be an Alabama thing. Sorry- I couldnt resist.
