I recently purchased my first Bass Cat a couple weekends ago, a 2005 Cougar FTD with 225 Optimax. I had it out on Kentucky Lake over the weekend and what a great boat. Very happy with everything. However, I am running Humminbird units and have a few questions that may or may not be easy to answer. My setup – I have a 858 DI unti up front connected to a 999 SI in dash at the console via ethernet cable. I have a high speed thru hull transducer connected to the 999 SI tranducer via Y cable. I mounted the 858 transducer to the trolling motor and have it on a RAM mount. I mounted the 999 transducer to the back of the hull on the right side next to the jackplate. My front unit works perfect and appears the settings are correct. The down imagining and 2D is great. No static or fuzzy (although I would be interested in knowing everyones settings on down imagining and 2D with Humminbirds). However, I am having issues with the 999 at the console. When I idle, the side imaging is perfect. The 2D seems to be alright too. However, down imaging is fuzzy and has static when idleing. It is not as clear and my front unit down imaging. Also, when running, down imagining completely does away. 2D seems to work for a little bit but then goes away. So I lose depth as well. It seems like the 999 unit is using the side imaging transducer for down imaging and 2D while running instead of using the high speed thru hull transducer. I could be wrong or have it set up wrong in some settings menu. My questions are theses:-At times, the temperature readings on both units are fahrenheit and other times some other format such as 225 t?? Is there somewhere I can mess with this or is this normal for it to switch? I just want it in farrenheit. At times it reads correctly but then goes into a different temperature reading.-I would like either down imaging or 2D while running and at least to read the depth. What is wrong with my set up? I swear it worked at the beginning of the weekend but then got worse. Do I need to change something in network settings? I dont see anything that allows me to select the high speed transducer. I was running at different speeds but mainly 53-67 over the weekend. Do the high speed transducers automatically lose signal over 50 MPH? Is there interference with the thru hull transducer and side imaging transducer?Any help and comments would be much appreciated. Also, Id like to add pictures of the boat, but dont know how. Thanks, Tim
