Looking at buying a new Cat in the near future. Looking at the P II and the Puma. Also not a fan of the new 4 stroke Mercury look, so looking at a Yamaha. What are some reasons you went with the P II or Puma when you purchased. Wanting to do some research before dropping the funds. Thanks
I went with the PII because I could not fit anything larger in my garage, and I really didn’t need anything larger anyway. Oh, and absolutely HATE the way Yamaha engines look on a boat. They look aftermarket and do not seem to match any boat at all.
What speeds u getting out of your P II?

It’s sitting at the factory waiting for an engine 😆
That sucks. Any idea on when engine is going to arrive?

No, Mercury responded to my IM on Facebook and the rep was very nice. Unfortunately, he/she did not speak in terms of time, just explained how difficult things are now due to various shortages. If I could do it over again, I would have driven to a dealer with stock, but my area just got a brand new dealer, so I wanted to deal with them. No way anyone involved could have seen this coming.
Thats crazy that you are having to wait on a motor. Hopefully it will arrive sooner than later and you can get it out and enjoy your new cat.

Quite a bit of difference between the PII and the Puma. I have always preferred a 19′ boat because it is easier to operate, tow, and is easy on the pocket book. I fish bayous and small lakes so it is plenty adequate for that. 200 HP motor is all I wanted too. Now if I were fishing large bodies of water then for safety purposes I would be in a 20′ boat for sure. The PII is very fun to drive and will top out at 74 mph. if you set it up right. I have mine set up at 72 mph. with good handling characteristics that I prefer. Puma is faster and will handle large bodies of water well with a smooth dry ride. I don’t know your background with boat ownership so if you aren’t experienced with Bass Boats then do a lot of research before you purchase. I have the new Mercury ProXS 4 stroke and would encourage you not to overlook it. It is a great motor compared to the Optimax motors I have had. Good luck with the purchase process. It is always fun to go through it.

I feel for you PMantle. I have ordered three now and the normal wait was long every time. Just have to play the hand you were dealt now. Hope you can receive it soon.
I feel for you, heck try to get a new truck, or anything else for that matter. I bought a new house at the beginning of year and we are still waiting on our stove. I waited for a year on a Motorguide troller, then gave up and bought a Lowrance Ghost because it was available.
