After losing my HDS 10 to water intrusion and Lowrance being zero help at all, I went out and found a HDS 12 Gen 2 Touch from a nice guy in Arizona.
I used a BBT 2″ angled mount, and it is so sturdy. Those lag bolts they send you are no joke… It is a very well-made part.
I ordered and modified a comfortroll mount to make sure the transducers fit. If I get sick of it, I’ll buy an HDI skimmer and put that on instead. I’m excited to have down scan on the bow. Everything networked perfectly with my HDS 8 in the dash, and It was nice to not have to change wires. I filled all the old holes with silicone for now until I make the fix much more permanent later.
I am a little concerned with how tight all the wires coming out of the hole in the gunwale are with the pretty sharp metal cover. Anyone have a solution that will keep water out and won’t gouge the wires coming out of there?
