I went out this evening with my Eyra. Here is my best WOT numbers this afternoon/evening 73.8 mph on the GPS, 88-90 degree temps, my full tournament tackle load (13 rods, 18 tackle boxes in front and rear storage boxes), empty livewells, 1/2 to 5/8 full gas tanks, motor raised 1/2″ to 4 Below pad, moderate steering torque, 5700-5800 rpms (I think 5775 Rpms), the humidity was down and noticeable, medium helping current and a freaking blast running WOT on the water!!!!Even had the opportunity and stumbled on some schoolers and caught 10 spots between 5:30-6:30 pm.Please ask questions if you have them. Ill answer as honestly as I can. Raising the motor height felt like it reduced Chine Walk. I could be wrong but it felt that way.Mid Range Torque really was noticeable at 1/2 trim at 55mph. You could feel the boat force you back in your seat when I raised the trim from 1/2 to 3/4 full trim. Not a surge but a noticeable force into the seat. This was distinctly noticeable and something I have never felt on my previous two BassCat boats (HPDI or Etec) or any other boat I have been in. Prop is 25p Yamaha Ventless Prop.Going to put on 25p Fury next time out with vent holes plugged. Will test this wheel in the interim until I get plugs from Scott Brech for my 25p Tempest Plus prop. My Eyra/200 VmaxSHO has exceeded way past my expectations. I dont know how much faster I can go in these temps but Ill be have fun finding out.
Congratulations Tom! You are putting together some fine numbers already with minimal seat time in your new boat. Those #s are going to best almost every other 200 powered boat out there and Yours is rated for a 250!!Two questions. Can you fit plano 3700s in your rear storage compartment standing on the side or would you have to use the smaller boxes? Also, I cant remember if the Eyra has storage under the seats or not. What a great rig. You have every right to be a proud Papa.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
Yes to storage under the seats and yes to plano 3700 boxes. They are in those pics in rear storage.
Tom great #s! Post up some pics of your forward storage area and how the boxes fit in there. Never mind I saw your other post. Carry on.Last edited by Bama96 on July 6th, 2010, 12:05 pm, edited 2 times in total.
The under seat storage in the Eyra is smaller than other BCB models as the seats are set lower, due to this being a more aggressive boat and seeking a lower feel in the rig.
You are correct on the seat storage. I will take pics at a later date and share. I can put my wide coffee thermos under the seats. I am guessing without measuring 6-8″ deep.As for setting lower I still am adjusting and getting used to the lower viewing levels. Yesterday I placed my throw cushion on my driver side to sit up an extra 2-3 inches and felt more comfortable viewing all my 1197 large screen real estate. It felt more comfortable. However, once I get my boat all dialed in Ill remove my throw cushion and ride my boat to the boats design sitting lower. If I dont like it I can always sit on my throw cushion. My continued WOT impressions:The boat screams and I feel its got more room to go ESPECIALLY once we get out of the summer heat. I never thought I would say this about a 200HP motor (Pick your color and brand) but 75 mph on the GPS is very legitimate even in slack water in cooler and dryer temps. With that statement I know I am not even appreciating this fully with this being done on a 20 plus boat!!!! The Eyra setup (200HP) is going to run with many 225/250 OEMs Hulls. There is such a wow factor with the Eyra and the looks I am getting are noticeable at the ramp. For those who are not crazy with the smaller hull insert (lightening bolt) it grows on you. I think BassCat did their research and its a great added evolutionary design. I had mixed feelings at first now I really like its added flair to the boats overall looks.Dash is so cool too. The new consoles more contemporary change is a step forward in my opinion from functionality to functionality with added flair and looks. There is very little wind impact sitting lower. I feel less wind then my 2010 PIV console or 2008 Sabre. Sorry for the typos and grammar. I am thinking much faster then my fingers can type! Tom I cant remember but dose that console have the cut out on the side for your rods to extend past like the Cougar Advantage? Not that you really need it with all your deck space. Just think that feature would be a welcomed addition on the Sabre and P2.
Guys I feel that the Eyra is the basis for the future of BCB. Speaking with Sherm he feels that dash should be added to ALL BCBs, even eclipsing the Jag dash, which has been Loved or Hated……I feel that the Torque and running characteristics of a 2 stroke should be Insane on this boat, just imagine someone putting a Merc 2.5 Hi-Po on the back, either a Pro Max 225, 260 or 280 Off shore and see what that Bad Boy can do, Im wondering if it would compete with a Production Go Fast hull????? Tom, Killer #s dude, I cant wait to see #s on competitors motors…..Where did the 300 XS Stroker Merc guy go????
The Eyra console does have a rod notch to the side. BCB Team

Seriously, I think any of the current 200 motors is going to offer similar performances. You will have to factor in variables like boat setup, temperature, wind, and current for any slight differences at WOT. The real difference is BassCats Eyra hull vs. other OEMs boats.
