I have very little concern about this. If you can turn a screw driver, then you can do most of the work that would ever be required on a Bass Cat Boat. Bad parts such as aerator pumps, bilge pumps, switches, etc. can be changed out in a matter of minutes. These can be shipped directly to you and will usually be at your front door within 2-3 days of calling Bass Cat. Engine problems/warranty work can be handled with any local marine dealer who services your make of engine. Again, I would not hesitate in purchasing a boat without local dealer support. Bass Cat boats have minimal problems due to their choice of using the best components possible.
That is an issue (dealer location). Any problems you might have with the boat are likely to occur right off of the bat meaning you might find something that isnt setup the way you want it. If you are handy and you do need to take care of something your dealer and BassCat will go out of there way to get you the advice and parts you need to do it yourself. It is unbelievable how supportive they have been to me. No doubt, Basscat wants us to be part of the family and theyll go overboard making that happen. If there are issues, theyll likely be with stuff other than the boat (electronics, motor, etc.) and these you can get taken care of anywhere. If i had to make my purchase over again, I would make sure the dealer understood my concerns about the distance between us and go over the boat with a fine-toothed comb before I took delivery. Arrange a good test drive if you can and check all the gauges, hoses, steering, everything. As you said, these boats are extremely well made.
Buy the PII you will not be sorry. As Phil said BCB stands behind there products and will go out of their way to be sure the customer is happy. Also, there are several experts here on this board who can help. They are great!!! Get us some Pics of your new ride when you take delivery.Chet
Thanks for the responses. I am going down to sign the papers now : )
East Tennessee is no different. Dealers are far and few between. That did not stop me from buying my second BassCat. I had an O ring leaking on one of my pumps and BassCat walked me through fixing it like they were standing right beside me doing the work. Turned out the ring had just slipped out of place and was allowing water to pass around it and letting water leak out of my livewell. I would sign the papers and not think twice. Youre gonna love that PII.
I live in Las Vegas and purchased a new 98 Jaguar from J & J Marine at Lake Fork. Never had a problem at all. Found a good Mercury mechanic in Lake Havasu for tune ups and everything else is still working fine, even in this heat and the pounding you get on Lake Mead. What part of Ohio? I know Vics in Kent is a good place. If you fish tourneys he helps run the x-series with his dad. Hopefully I will get to fish one of them this year.
Hi Carlos – I live in the Dayton, Ohio area. My dealer is Stampers Boat Barn and they are great to work with. I havent been this excited about a boat in a long time. My buddy has a Ranger 520 and he likes my Bass Cat so much hes looking at a new Puma now. These boats are amazing and I really like the trailer features. My problem now – 8 inches of snow expected tomorrow : ( This is going to be a painful 3-4 months waiting for spring!!!
I have on 07 PII and LOVE IT! You will love yours! Like everyone said, find a dealer close to you for your motor, and any problems with the boat itself BCBwill take care of you. They are the best in the business!
I second Stampers!!! I love them. They treat you like family. Evertime I go there they call me by name. I think Plapps in southern ohio is a Cat dealer now too.
Hello Bass Cat owners. Im about to purchase a new 07 P2. I have searched all over and really cannot find any bad postings about Bass Cat boats. I have compared it side by side to a Ranger 198 and I like the Bass Cat better. Both seem to be very high quality boats. The one concern I have is the small number of Bass Cat dealers in Ohio and future service should this dealer close. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!!!
We hope that feeling continues! BCB
Hope the deal goes through smoothly. I love my PII and look forward to every chance I get to take it out. Be sure to put some pics up here when you get it.
Amen to that. I cant wait for spring so I can get the boat off the lift and in the water. I love my PII. Its a great boat and I am sure you will like it
