Found a 24 tempest plus and cant wait to try it before freeze up. I expect a jackplate adjust is in order. I can turn the 26 trophy to 5400 so hoping this tempest will let my 05 puma / 225 xs fly with better hole shot and looking for close to 70 at the top. O btw hello from the soon to be frozen north
I believe the 24 Tempest will be too low a pitch for your rig. Watch your tach!My 06 Puma with 225 Pro XS will turn a 26 Tempest Plus to 5950 RPM. Currently I am running a 25 Fury and spin it at 5850 RPM. Depending on load I can hit 69 MPH to 74.5 MPH.
If things dont work out for you with the 24 tempest plus ,,I would definitely be interested . I am running a 23 tempest plus on my sabre ,,5700 rpms @ 63 gps and the holeshot will ” throw your rods over your head ” ,,,,24 would be perfect…
The prop arrived this morning.. Higher altitude here in the edmonton alberta area so have to go with lower pitch. Would have loved a fury but nothing has come for sale used around here and cant afford new.
Even pitch Tempests are a crap shoot out of the box. Theyre typically off in pitch. Ive had two 24s – one was awesome, the other a turd. Run it and see what you think. It will be a much better prop if you let Mark Croxton hammer on it and tune it to your rig.
Finally got out to try the tempest..hole shot was very nice compared to the 26 trophy and it pulled hard up to 67 when I backed off at 5900 rpm. Also more power for trailering. My numbers are with edmonton alberta altitude mind ya
