Got off my lazy butt up and installed new cables. Been needing for long time. got old cables out and helm “helm was busted also” ran cables had son help slide them into motor.” that was fun in itself i had bear hug on motor while he said this way dad no move back other way” Then I was under dash hooking up that end kept tightening bolts and couldnt figure out why the geerz wouldnt match up. Had everything tight”remember i was upside down under dash turning wheel”. Said a few cuss words then sat up to catch my breath “fatboy” turned the wheel and said oh the motor is turning. Didnt know they could turn that easy.
