Ive got a 2004 Cougar FTD w/ a plane old 225 Optimax. When my motor was fresh I ran 68 pretty much all the time, and hit 70 a couple times. It would tend to perform a little dance similar to a chine walk (I always thought it was chine walk until recently BCB told another forum member it might be air kiting) at 67-68, but a tiny bit of trim down would tame it, and then it would run 66-67. I could run 67 with a pretty good load with a polished and balanced Tempest 25P prop. Also that prop has the best holeshot with two plugs removed and one left in. Never could figure that out, but loaded or empty it outperforms the four blade Trophy for me. Hole shot and top end. The motor still runs good, but compression numbers have dropped some. I can run 62-65 now depending on the load and conditions. Same props. Lower pitch props tend to blow out for me coming out of the hole. The balanced and polished 25P Tempest still seems to push it the best.
