Just thought I would do an intro post. My name is JP DeRose and I am super excited to have finally purchased my first BassCat. The short of the story is that we fish a lot of big water here is Southern Ontario, Canada. Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and Lake St. Clair to name a few and we really put our rides through their paces. A good buddy of mine has been running a 2005 Puma for a few years now and continued to rave about it… to the point where I had to actually talk to some people and look into the boat further. After talking to a few friends and having some great conversations with Rick Pierce the decision became very clear and I ordered a Puma FTD and rigged it with a Yamaha 250 SHO. I just picked up the boat last Friday, had the motor rigged yesterday and broke it in today… I now know why BassCat owners are so passionate about their rides!I will update the numbers as I get some more seat time with the boat and put up some pics… but as a teaser I posted a video on YouTube for the first run and the boat had 1/2 tank of fuel (26 gallons), the jackplate has not been played with yet (1/3rd up on the gauge) and a 27 Tempest prop. The boat hit 80.0 mph on the first pass but since it was around 43 degrees outside and a bit windy I stopped for the day. No real load in the boat except for safety equipment, graphs, 4 batteries (3 – 31 series, 1 – 27 series cranking) and the Fortrex 101 troller. Awesome handling boat!If you want to see the vid its here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5puR_c4gERkBest regardsJPLast edited by JP DeRose on May 12th, 2010, 11:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.
