New to the board with a new to me Eyra

Hi guys I am new to this board. I am a regular on a few other boards but me and my dad went and picked up a 96 Eyra monday and I need some help. Plus it would be nice to get hooked up with a great group of people. I have 96 eyra with a 96 mariner 175. running a 25 tempest that has some light work on it and a 4 inch manual jackplate. Does anyone know what kinda height I should have this motor at and what props really make this little boat scream. I am looking for a good fishable prop but overall I wanna go fast. Thanks for you help and hope someway I may be able to help you all oneday.

You should have a really good starter there. The Eyra is a preferred boat for many. On the propeller, we have not tried it and propellers have come a long way since 1996, though we feel a 24 or 25 Fury would do a good job. Welcome to the Bass Cat Family!

I am happy to have this boat. I have owned a skeeter and Phil Addisons old Champion at one time so this should be a change for me but a good one.

You should be very happy with your Eyra. It has potential to be a low to mid 70s rig with that 175 mariner on it. These were some bad to the bone 18 footers. Great rough water ride also. I think youll find that 25 temptest to work just fine for you. I like a 25 trophy myself. Just as fast or faster than the temptest with better handling and hole shot. I am from houston and the boat came from Austin it mat have been on that site though. Picked it up monday. I think the prop will be fine but how high in relation to the pad are you guys running your motors?

Wellcome to the BCB family! I am the proud owner of a 96 Eyra/ 175 Mariner Magnum EFI as well. If the JP is original it is the CMC manual jackplate. I changed mine out to a Detwiler hydraulic 2yrs ago, but I do not remember how high I it was when I bought it(used). I am running a 24 Tempest at present at 5850 rpms. Welcome to the board ! I dont have an Eyra but I do have the 18 foot Sabre with a 175 Optimax. I just bolted on a 25″ Fury to replace my 26″Tempest. The reason I changed is I wanted a prop to handle loads as the 26 Tempest worked great with just me in the boat but when a load was put to it, I would lose 3 mph. I have had my boat up to almost 70 in the winter time and rpms were right at the limiter. As soon as I planed out and got up to speed with the Fury, I hit the rev limiter pretty quick. I was @just over 68 mph GPS. I still think the 25 Fury will be the best prop for a 18 foot /175 combo as the handling, hole-shot and mid-range acceleration are AWESOME. If my engine would spin up to 6k, theres no doubt this would be the fastest prop for my combo.

You have A great running boat I too had a Eyra the deep body haul that was a 96 but mine had a hydraulic jack plate with a 25″ turbo 4 blade prop on it and GPS it would Run 72 MPH if you run big body of water you will be surprised on how well this 186 boat handles the waves Congrats on joying the BCB family you will neveer find a better bass boat.
