That is impressive at first glance. Will have to see the cost and performance after its been out a while. Man, that hole shot is impressive. Ill have check this out with Scott Brech at Brechs Marine.. Flyswatter
if you cycle play pause at the begging of the clip the white boat get a slight jump on throttle application. not sure how much of an advantage it made but it would be more impressive if they let the other boat start first and then run it down.
We noticed that also, though the Yamaha technicians we have confidence in are very enthusiastic on the results they have seen. The clip is short and sweet, no frills and no expression of more. We will have more opinion of this once we get our hands on one soon. Most of you know our opinion of Four Stroke engines. This one is going to be scrutinized well by many.
Its only a matter of time before the 4-strokes catch up across the board. Ive always been a big fan just not willing to sacrifice the performance of the 2-strokes. Maybe by the time Im ready for a new rig the 4 bangers will be where I want them and Ill be able to put one on my new Bass Cat Boat of choice. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
As a motocrosss and off-road racer there was a time not that long ago that I thought no way in heck would 4 strokes ever replace the 2 strokes as a race platform…Well a few years later that is all the manufacturers bring to the table…The new four stroke race bikes rock….But and it is a big BUT….With all of that performance came a very high cost of maintenance and tuning…It increased the cost of a year of racing by thousands of dollars…. Yamaha was the first to bring competitive race bikes to the market and no doubt they have the technology and know how to do the same with outboard engines…Yamaha will get the performance numbers where they need to be..You can write that in stone… My question and concern is in durability, cost of maintenance and tuning….Only time will tell
The jump on the throttle by the 4 stroke boat may be to the new digital controls? The Fly by wire that is now used on the F250B? Wonder if they are using them on these new 4 strokes? Cant wait to hear the test results. BCB when do you guys get to run one? Post some pics if you can.
Was that Hammer 4 stroke a black engine in color? Will Yamaha move away from the gray color cowling for their four strokes? That gray is very bland and would be a good move in my opinion. Flywatter
Looks very similar to the current dark blue VMAX scheme.
Most of you wont be able to relate to this, but a couple years ago Yamaha went to ALL 4 bangers for their Snowmobiles….Me being from Eagle River,Wi the Snowmobile Captiol of the World, we were all Skepical…well the Torque,Power curve is Un-real, now granted they used their ever popular Mr-1 or R1 crotch rocket base motor and made it work on sleds, like they do on their PWCs and Boats, when you combine, Titanium,Magnesium, 5 valve heads and 10,000-13,000 RPMs, and as most know they can spin those numbers and still be reliable, we all know the Outboard is a different game…..We will all be shocked by the performance of the New V-Max series, and I really hope its tested soon by BCB, Blazer has been playin with Yamaha and obviously Skeeter for a while with it, Ive heard its quite the platform…..Now make the F150 acceptable in the Bass segment for Looks and gear case and we will have 1 hell of a lineup………H.O.
