Getting the boat ready for the season and I have no power to anything. I have a 36V setup plus the cranking battery. All batteries are charged, and I just put a new crankin battery in. Boat is a 2015 Caracal…any thoughts on where to start to try and diagnose the problem?2015 BassCat Caracal225 Yamaha SHORaymarine Axiom 12sTwin 8 Red PowerPole Blades

Make sure all of the red wires (and black wires too) are hooked up to the cranking battery. If all of that is ok then check for a “fuse” in the smaller red wire leaving the battery. This is a fuse that you can “reset” by pressing a small button on it. I hope that helps. Let us know.Last edited by JEH in La on March 18th, 2017, 2:28 pm, edited 1 time in total.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!
When did the power issue show up? The wire is definitely our first thought, though are you turning the power on everywhere. Also did you pull a wire loose at a connection while installing the new battery.
The reason I put a new cranking battery in is because I had no power to the trim. Turns out there was a bigger issue that may or may not have been the cranking battery. I didnt test the TM power earlier as those batteries were showing as charged so I assumed they were good. Normally when I flip the master power the power pole pumps beep as they turn on, but I get nothing now.2015 BassCat Caracal225 Yamaha SHORaymarine Axiom 12sTwin 8 Red PowerPole Blades
Remember any sparks? If so, check the breaker near the battery. If NOTHING works, and you have sonar powered directly from battery (which is preferred) then make sure red=+, black=-. There are batteries that look identical but with + and – posts reversed due to auto wiring.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
If your power pole pumps are wired direct to the battery there will be a major parasitic drain, which is one reason why BCB uses a master on the Power Poles. If you have a voltmeter then start checking voltage forwards from battery. If you have nothing on either trolling batteries or cranking, then you have more to deal with and we suggest you find someone to help you understand battery voltage and tracking the problem. Be aware a 12 volt person is quite different than a 120 volt electrician in some cases. While many electricians understand 12 volts as they well should, some of our larger challenges in flowing information were to supposed electricians that never messed with 12, 24 or 36 volts. BCB
Power poles are on a master. question, if only one of the batteries in the series is dead, should you replace them all?would that affect things?2015 BassCat Caracal225 Yamaha SHORaymarine Axiom 12sTwin 8 Red PowerPole Blades
Do you have an inline circuit breaker? If so, make sure it isnt tripped – or remove it and connect your positive lead directly to the battery.Your Signature …
The two…or three… trolling motor batteries are seperate from the cranking battery and should be hooked up to only the TM (not sure about the power poles). If you have access to a digital voltage tester, put it on DC volts and measure the battery posts voltage, red lead on positive and black lead on negative. If you have nothing, or anything below 11.5 volts or so, the battery is not charged, or you have a dead cell or two and it wont take/hold a charge. You have either disconnected something by accident when installing the new cranking battery, tripped a breaker, blown a fuse, etc. Without a digital voltage meter, youll be chasing your tail. You can buy one for this application for under 50 bucks, perhaps cheaper. A good meter that will last forever will run $150 or so, but is probably overkill for your needs. Wally World will have what you need. Or borrow one from a buddy, if possible.Did you keep the batteries charged during the down time? You should plug the on board charger in at least once a week, regardless…or better yet, just put it on a timer for once a week for 6 hours or so, AFTER you are sure the batteries are fully charged after use, AND the cells have plenty of distilled water in them. If the water level ever drops below the top of the plates, the battery is toast….it will never regain its capability.2017 Sabre FTD AE DC2017 Yamaha 175 SHOMK Fortrex 80Helix 10 Mega SI in consoleHelix 7 GPS SI GN2 on bow
JLeon77 where are you located? I would hate for you to be in my neighborhood with no help because I would certainly help you out. Maybe someone else near you could give you a hand with that.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!
