Nocco Genius Charger ?

Nocco states the charger fully charges then turns off and on every 24hrs to check battery and top off.My question is ………Should I plug it in and leave it until if fish next time (1-2 weeks) or should I plug it in, and once the batteries are fully charge, unplug it and make sure to plug it back in a couple of days before going fishing to top off the batteries.I just want to make sure I dont mess up my Optimas.Thanks,Jay

We prefer a garage timer. We just dont like electrical items being on all the time that use a transformer or similar device. We have all grabbed those battery charging units and felt the heat on everything from our razor and battery drills, to cell phones and laptop chargers. BCB

Just how hard is it to turn off for a while? There has been in my area serious fires caused by chargers shorting out- Is it worth the chance?BAYOU BANDIT

I have my boat in the garage at home and I charge the batteries right after fishing and then once a week if not being used the following week! The day before fishing, I plug the charger in and once the green lights are all on, I unplug the charger. I dont like leaving it on all the time. I did it this way for over 10 years in other boats and have had batteries last for over 4 years each set! If my chargers dies some day, I will be purchasing the one that BCB sells that stays at home and has a timer!

I recently bought a Noco from BCB, and love it. I plug it in the night before a trip, then the night before its stowed. Other than that, I unplug it. I refuse to allow anything creating a draw to be left unattended.Granted Im a fireman, but I have seen to many fires started by unattended electrical items. Anything drawing a current can be a potential problem.Btw, if a battery does completely lose a charge (accessory switch left on), the Noco light will flash for that battery, the same as if its connected incorrectly. I just stick that battery on a dumb charger for a few hours, then re-power the Noco, and the flashing light goes away, and you just get the constant red charging light.

A few years ago I started using a heavy duty timer that has a breaker in it and have it set for 30 minutes a day, when you need to charge longer you turn the timer to the on position and when it gets back to that time it goes back to 30 minutes a day. I use this for my boat and the charger for my four wheeler.
