The other post had me thinking about the temp on my 225 Optimax. It is a 2004 model. Normally it runs at about 114 deg. at all throttle positions. I keep this up on my smartcraft gauge all the time to monitor. Does my Optimax have a computer controlled thermostat too? Seems like my engine sure does run cool. I have (not for much longer) the exact same motor. I too watch the smartcraft and as long as it is warming to near 140 before cooling, all is well. If it is staying at 114 all the time, it seems you may have thermostat(s) open and that is a problem. If the water temp gets to near 140 then cools to there, it sounds right. VT Bass Cat, Thanks for the info. I have never seen 140 deg while running the motor. Only 114 to maybe 117 deg. Eric

Just so I am understood, it will run at 114 or so after the thermostats open and the water flows. It will only heat up when you are at idle. It wont heat up when there is good water flow (higher than idle RPM). Optis take very little water when idling and will get to the temp pretty quickly. I have smartcraft and never hammer down till I see the water temp going back down from (somewhere near) 140.
