I spent friday and saturday showing an elite pro the sabine river. He runs another Midway, Ar boat. After running through the top of Sabine lake in 25 mph winds, looked like the ocean, the comment that he made was “damn that boat rides good”. I finally know that the Jaguar is just a little different than any other boat on the market, We talked about it for the rest of the day. I continue to question why anyone would want to run anything other than the Jaguar. Maybe Im missing something?
Expense. Its my dream boat for sure but rigged out the way I would want it I would hate to see the price tag. We also fish a lot of “skinny” cypress lakes and have to maneuver around a lot of willow trees when the river is high and I just dont know how it would work out. I can tell you personally when you had your grey and yellow boat for sale it was the most tempting one but in the end I went Puma again.
Wait a Minute….are you saying the pros get help? The rest of your story, most of us alredy know that the USS Jaguar, is not your typical bassboat! Good story buddy, did you tell him he could buy at the end of the season???
JSLAW wrote:Wait a Minute….are you saying the pros get help? That was my first thought as I read. I know they say “no help” but I also KNOW there was help on Toledo Bend as Im sure there is everywhere. I felt really strange when I was a marshal and found out that one of my pros had gotten help. It was prior to the tournament, so maybe thats ok, but I sure thought NO help meant NO help. Most of them get all the help they can in a general sense. From my personal experience they just want to know how to navigate around the water way and general info as in what phase will the fish be in, what restaurants in town are good which hotels are nice and how do I get to the ramp. I only talked to one guy who wanted real specific info as far as locations and baits and colors. he was an ass.
They get more help than many are willing to admit!
I like to think that is more the norm, Traybird. The instance Im speaking of was not. He had gotten a specific “spot” from a guy that fishes a lot of local tournaments. Back to dmorrows original post…….if there were fewer trees in Toledo Bend, the Jag would probably be my first choice. We just need something a bit smaller and more nimble to move around in the trees.Last edited by toledobasser on February 12th, 2013, 6:02 pm, edited 1 time in total.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
I may have have seemed like an ass last time I saw you, I assure you that I didnt mean to be short but one of my trailer tires had a leak and I was worried that I wouldnt make it to Jasper to get it fixed. Sorry. See you this weekend?I saw tons of elite guys in Orange and Port Arthur last weekend. Mostr were very friendly and just trying to figure out the area. On a side note, The folks at Daleys Hunt and Fish are really good guys and the tackle shop is one of the best I ever been in.
