Odd occurences on the water

Ive seen heavy current do this, but do you have a hydraulic plate, or do you move the plate much? I had this happen on a previous rig when running the motor too low. I know Cats like the motor lower than most, so I dont know if thats whats causing it or not. My Triton would skip pretty hard, as you describe.

1996 Eyra with 175 merc. Mine does it a lot at low rpm 3500 – 4500 trimed up enough to be on pad. Also more likely on calm days. I think it is slideing off the pad it does not try to chine or hook at these rpms. Any thoughts would be welcome.

The only times Ive experienced it, it wasnt in a Cat, and it was always in a narrow window of speed, and trim angle. I assumed it was the hull and LU fighting each other as the hull was starting to lift onto pad. I was always hard in the throttle and possibly trimming at the wrong time. You guys dont know scary until youve had the nose drop and the keel hook hard to the right or left, somewhere north of 70mph…

My 2001 classic used to do that when I had my motor all the way down on the hydraulic plate. My 2014 eyra doesnt do it at all. Could be just a touch low on the motor height??? Just a guess though.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
