Topic: ok new problem now

i installed the 10 micron yamaha filter today. pumped everything up to full and got the air out of the new filters but now the bulb wont tighten up no matter how long i pump. i dont have any leaks anywhere and motor ran fine at idle on the muffs still havent ran it down the river yet though. should i put another bulb on or by putting that big canister filter in there is it normal for the bulb not to tighten up now?

Unhook from motor and pump bulb. If it wont get firm there, the bulb check-valve is bad. Replace the bulb. BTW, I _always_ use good quality bulbs. Those $5 jobs at wal-mart can be problematic…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

Busted diaphragm in fuel pump may cause the same thing. Speaking from experience. That was on my Merc EFI. Dont know about the fuel system on a Yamaha. Good Luck with it. That was the reason I suggested disconnecting from the motor. If it pumps up, the problem is further downstream in the motor somewhere. If it doesnt pump up while disconnected, it is the bulb, or back toward the tank although the bulb is the most likely culprit.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

My last Yamaha did the same thing after I put the water separator filter in the fuel line. Bulb never was “hard”….boat ran fine, never had an issue….even replaced the bulb out of curiosity, new bulb did the same thing…motor still ran fine.
