Took boat in for lower unit oil change, got home and the cap on the forward part of the trailer was gone???? NO CLUE??Towed it about 12 miles home, no clue when it jumped ship, need to order a new one obviously, anything else to check on or do to prevent problems? Should I wrap the hole with saran wrap and tape it?? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. Linc W.

Ive lost 2 of them, then the brake fluid cap goes too. Luckily I caught it the last time before I lost the brake fluid.

So if I lost the cap, the brake fluid would still be sealed as long as that cap is present, so just replace the top cap??

Get you a new cap and put it on when you get it. Someone is probably borrowing the one you lost. Call BCB and theyll have you one by the end of next week.

I wrapped electrical tape over the cap and around the trailer.

The caps lok tab in place and we dont think they just pop out. Most are “borrowed”!

There should still be an inner plug covering the fluid in the cylinder. The top cap just locks, or supposed to, into the trailer access. I too had one to disappear at a ramp while out fishing. Hate a damn thief. Some also knock the gold ball off the top of my step pole. Broke it off and I cant replace the ball as I cannot get the old threaded part down in the pole out.

I lost one not too long after I bought my Cougar. I ordered two of them from BCB. I put one on and keep the other one in the truck, just in case. Not lost one since.

I had one “borrowed” two years ago. Bought a new one from BassCat and this time I put a thin bead of clear silicone down first to seal the cap to the frame. I can still get it off but it takes a little effort. Have not lost on since.
