I am looking at finding a mint older p2 with a 200 and was wondering the difference between the two. I looked at a new one and it looked like the old p2 with deck extension was a bigger front deck. Also how is the stability when you stop to fish on each one. Does it rock when both anglers or one angler walkes to one side? What about the differences in the ride between the two boats? Does it fish flat or nose high when fishing like the older Champions? Either boat. I havent been in either and would like some real honest answers from the people who know. Thx
I cant tell you anything about the newer P2s…I run a 96 P2 Mariner 200 efi. The 200 pushes it across the water easy and fast! The stability of the boat is great! Im a large man standing @ 66″ and 300 lbs. I can walk around on the front deck and the boat doesnt move. My brother was really impressed, he fishes out of the back. We have fished in jon boats and canoes and I have almost thrown him out moving on the front! Not in this Bass Cat. I believe the nose is about level. I really enjoy my P2! Hope this helps out some. Good luck in your search for your Cat!
I have a 94 p2 w/ 200 mariner. it is way faster than i need/want to drive it (still that learning curve). I am about 200lbs and my regular fishing buddy is around 240-260. we can both be on one side or move from side to side while fishing and cant tell the difference. it fishes a little and i mean little nose up but havent had any problems pitching/flipping. it levels out some when he is on the front deck w/me. I hear the newer models ride even better. the older model has a smaller rod box. that is the only drawback in that boat and one i can deal with. other than that it is a great boat. good luck and i am sure you will enjoy either.
Good deal. I am 6 ft 250 and my partner is 6.5 ft at 320. That is important. I am also getting older 47 and a little smoother ride would also be good. I know basscats ride better than most when it is rough. I dont want over a 19 ft boat and dont need one for the lakes here in Oklahoma. A few get real rough and big water but I have ran them in a ranger 361 so I know the 92 will handle it. Plus I need it to fit in my garage. I also like to fish in small areas so the bigger boat henders me more. I cant wait to hear some info on the newer p2 compared to the older.
i mainly fish on Toledo and have been in just about every boat they make and nothing has compared to my cat in the rough stuff. i am utterly amazed at the ride. just trim it down and let her eat. if its too rough in that cat then its too bad to be on the water. the 19fters are great as we do alot of crappie fishing as well as bream in alot. i would love the 20ft cougar or puma but i cant say enough about the pantera either way you will be getting a great boat
I had a 96 PII aand it was a very stable boat to fish out of. My partner and I regularly fished off of the front deck at the same time and I never once felt that the boat had much if any lean to it. He is 604″ and about 200. I am 603″ and 300. My boat had the full flippin deck insert in the front so everything in front of the console was decked. I really loved the boat and hated to sell it. When I get another Cat I will probably get a Cougar or a Puma. The PII was obviously fine but I am thinking about the resale value and comfort of the larger rig. It also set what I would call nose level in the water.
I bought my 92 pII a couple of month ago. I upgraded from a mean16 champion. The fishabilty of the pII is amazing compared to what I was used to. Handles every situation much better.I belive the 200hp on my pII pushes it better than the 175 blackmax on the mean16. The older boats are awesome in my book can only dream of what to newer ones are like. Either way have fun, catch alot, and be safe!
I have a 90 PII with a 200 Merc. It is a great boat and in good shape. It will take any water and will run 64 or 5 when ever you want. I like it so much that I just bought a 99 Cougar today. If you want to talk about my boat give me a call at 901-262-7754.
