This is getting old… Got boat all the way to ramp this mornin noco charger showing all greens whens I left the house about 30 mins ago. Both power was turned off at panel and main breaker in bildge. Noticed when temoving motor toter trim was very weak so I tried to turn motor over and it wouldnt Ive had this battery tested by interstate batteries and a load test done on it the battery shows to be good…
If the battery tests good, may be a bad charger. You say power was turned off at main breaker in bilge. If you are truly opening a breaker, the breaker may be bad. Circuit breakers are used to provide protection from short circuits. They are not switches and should not be used as such. Hooter regardless to the breaker all power is off to boat nothin is on, boat would crank 2 days ago without charge being applied in the last week I had charger on boat overnight cause I was planning on fishing all day today
Time to get a digital multimeter and test voltage before you plug charger in and after you plug it in to see if all the banks are working. I would go ahead and undo my troller wiring and go plain jane 12 volts on each bank to make sure I got a good read on it without crossover.
I had that issue until I Replaced all the breakersPractice Angling CPRCatchPictureRelease2010 PIV 200SHO
Did they test your battery with a hydrometer? I had a battery that was fine on load testing but checking with the hydrometer immediately identified a bad cell.
If it is a deep cycle battery, and it should be, you cannot successfully load test it. A deep cycle is designed to deliver the voltage differently than a “standard” lead/acid. Also, as others have said, check the battery voltage before connecting the charger, then while its charging and after it has been charged. If the battery was fully charged and you took it off the charger, drove to the lake, and it failed, then there is either a battery problem and/or a connection problem. Before doing anything, I would take the leads off the battery and clean both with a wire brush, even if they dont look bad. Also, pop the cowl and disconnect the ground at the motor and clean it. One other thing, you didnt say what battery you had, but when you said Interstate checked them, I assumed it was lead/acids. If its AGMs, the battery could be giving your charger a false reading. Once an AGM discharges to a point, a battery charger will read it as charged, but will not bring the battery up.JohnJones Trolling Motor Services870 773 3474Motorguide/MinnKota/PowerPole/Lowrance/Humminbird
It is pro guide tournament series battery they tested it with a digital device and then did a load test it is a cranking battery 1000 CA 800 CCA. This is the second time this has happened I dont think its the charger cause I towed it back home this morning charged for about an hour and fired right up but I put boat in personal ramp ran it a couple miles then started fishing around the house and now it wont crank again
Ok I have the boat back home. I unhooked jumper wire from trolling batteries. My cranking battery was showing 10 volts. Trolling batteries were showing little over 12 each. I plugged in charger and put meter leads on cranking battery as soon as charger clicked meter jumped from 10 volts to 13 volts would you say my charger is good?
To add to my last post while charging cranking battery shows 13.52 volts 1 trolling battery is showing 12.73 and the other is showing 13.18
