I am currently purchasing a new shallow water anchor(Talon) and will only be purchasing one(1). Is there a preferred side to mount ? Port or starboard ? Minn Kota recommends to mount on the port side but hey they are not Bass fisherman. What are your recommendations and why ?

Do you have a E-ladder if so then mount it on starboard side so you can keep the ladder.

I would think on port side unless conflicts with an E-ladder on that side, in order to keep weight balanced better when fishing alone? Doesnt seem to me that extra weight should be on drivers side if not necessary.

I agree with Bob, I had a single on my last boat, and I mounted it on the port to help balance weight. On my PII, i installed two, so I had to take the e-ladder off, it was simple.

As long as its not like ear-rings, you should be fine either way.But I have to agree, If you fish alone a lot Id put it on the left to help balance weight. Plus, most of the time if you have external transducers, they are usually on the right. Not that having a talon over it should bother it but… 13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods

Might want to off set the weight of one side, i.e., three batteries on one side, look to mount the Talon on the other.
