This post is strictly my opinions based upon my experiences both with owning 3 different basscats, as well as all of the support and knowledge that I have gained in this time frame.I was lucky, the first time I went to the plant I met Jason, who took me on a tour of the plant. During the tour he answered my questions regarding the builds of the boats, the models and then asked me if I had ever driven or ridden in a cat. To which I replied, no. He said ok, lets go get my Cougar and we can take it out and drive it around on the lake so you can see how it handles. I was in shock, heres a guy, at work, and he offers to go take me out in his personal boat to make sure I understand what makes these boats so special, amazing. During this conversation in walks Rick, he introduces himself, talks to both of us, finds out what Jason had said about taking out his boat, and Rick says well go hook up to the Jag and take it out. Wait a minute, a brand new Jag with a 300 on the back of it. Needless to say, if I wasnt blown away before that I was then. Unfortunately I didnt have the time to get out on the Jag, one day I will, so thanked them both, met Ricks Dad, and then I was on my way. Fast forward over the years I have personally met Alan in parts, Dorrie (who is truly a gem), Ivan, many others at the plant, other staffer members and dealers. Every one of them has treated me as Rick says part of the family. This major point, along with the quality and craftsmanship of every one of the cats I have owned is why I stay with this brand. As I age I understand why this is a big deal to me. Every one of us only has so much time and money to spend. So it foolish to part with both on something that just isnt worthwhile. Just like this board is probably one of the best things I have participated on over the years. The knowledge that is shared here about not only Basscat boats, but tow vehicles, different issues people have had over the years, as well as solutions that each of us have found is invaluable. Where else do you find the President of the Company, along with pro-staffers, dealers, staff members and other owners giving what expertise that they can. Quite honestly, anyone who does not think it is a time saver is just fooling themselves. So thanks to all who post their experiences here, shared their knowledge, and most important allowed each of us in your memories just a little. Which is exactly what life is all about. Awesome post. Makes me even happier about my decision to buy my first Cat a 2018 P2.
BKbassin my first cat was a 2007 P2. I am in agreement with what I read a long time ago, words that Rick said about it, and I quote “it might be the best 19 boat out there”. I agree, I have nothing but fond memories of that boat, and a lot of smiles when I think about a lot of 20 boats with 250s on them that could not run down that little 19er with a 200 on it. From zero to 60 there is not too many boats out there that can compete with it, much less out run it. And fuel wise, it was great on gas, not like a 250 which loves to drink.
Some very good thoughts in the original post. My Caracal is my 4th BassCat. I have been to the factory two or three times for various reasons, always was treated like a member of the Family. Well, I feel like Im a member due to that. Most likely due to my age and finances, my Caracal is my last boat.(As Sherm reminds me…its my 4th last boat. :lol) But the good thing is I know that it will last as long as I need it to!!
At a time when most companies are focused solely on “Now Money Only”, Bass Cat continues to grow their brand through great customer service and great ethics-all the way across the board! I have never encountered a Bass Cat staff member that was not truthful or helpful at all times.
Thank you all for the kind words and for your belief in the Bass Cat Brand. We call it family for a reason, and this thread absolutely exemplifies that. We wouldnt be here without each of you, so THANK YOU for making the BCB Family possible!BCB

While waiting at the Lock a guy with a big rig with a 250hp didnt believe I actually had a 200hp. He said I was 1/2 a mile out front in 20 seconds. It was great.
I too have owned Cats since the early 80s. I’ve have several used ones and the last two were new. I can only say this company has always been there taking care of it’s customers. They offer a superior product with superior customer service. What else could you want in a boat.
I agree what u say about their serviceSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
