Does anyone here know what their tachometer reads when they are at idle speed? Mine seems to be reading high…Thanks for the help.

If you have a Hot Foot, then it may be adjusted wrong and retaining some tension on the cables, or not fully returning. Disconnect the throttle cable and see if it returns.

the actual idle speed seems very normal… I believe the tach is wrong. At 35mph it is reading around 5200 at a medium trim. If I go over 45mph the tach is reading in the mid 6000s which would set off the rev limiter if it was actually that high. At idle its over a grand… Its an analog tach… I beleive its a teleflex. Don on BBC said I could adjust the tach using a flat head on the dial on the back of the gauge so im looking for a benchmark on what I should read at idle speed to initiate my calibration tweaking… (tend to get faster responses in this forum).Motor is a 2005 225 pro xsProp is a throphy 25

Not if it is Smart Craft. There is something else to this one.

Pretty sure they are not smart craft though I could be wrong… They look exaclty like the gauges on the Cougar Advantage on your web page and in the booklet you sent (pg 13).http://www.basscat.com/CougarAdvantage.html

My ProXS 225 is around 580 at idle. That is using my SmartCraft guages.

Could be a bad gauge in that case. These are Mercury Admiral gauges. BCB
