Opti 225 year 2000. My down trim runs continously unless I mash the up trim and hold it ther as soon as I release the up trim the down trim starts. Up trim does not work at all. It does stop but only by disconnecting the battery. I thought of the trim relays and have replaced one at a time but the broblem persists does any one have an idea not requring a trip to the dealer.

This is usually due to a stuck/shorted switch, most often the one in the bow.~Misty~ EKs Marine Service West Monroe, LA

I had the same thing happen to my EFI a year or so ago. The boot around the bow trim switch tore and shorted. This caused the same thing you described.

You guys are absolutely correct it is the down trim button at the front, stuck in the down position now how do I reach this to replace it with my ham hands on the 2000 cougar (Great Boat)

We disagree, from our experience it is usually the one in the cowling and this same topic has been diagnosed here many times.

I had the same problem on a Cougar I had with a 250 Pro XB and BCB is correct, it was the cowling trim switch. Glenn

If it is the bow switch, you access it through the front panel. Though it is usually the cowling switch.
