The PIV is a great looking boat. I see that not many dealears carry them and the price is fairly close to the bigger boats. What is the take on this boat?
Probably the best fishing boat of the BCB line, imho. With ample storage, and simply seems to be “balanced” better than most, while maintaining performance, ride, stability, and shallow water agility. Overall simply a great boat. But it is one of the “Premium” packages which effects pricing, all the bells and whistles, but definately on my favorite list ! There is or was a good promo for owners loyality that priced the P4 close to a P2. I really enjoy mine, lots of storage space and not a speed demon but still quick.
The P IV is the biggest of the 19 foot lineup and definitely “top of the line.” Wont be the fastest in the Pantera class, that would go to the Classic, then the P II, finally the P IV. Overall storage has the other two beat. BCB has stated that for overall general use, the P II would be an ideal size with amenities. But the P IV is a stong performer as well.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I will tell you like my dealer told me; one foot longer deck, different hull, and HP rating. The reason I went with the Puma was the little size difference. I will always have a partner, we will be married this Saturday and we fish together allot. We are spending more time on larger bodies of water too 45,000 acers and up. Im not a speed freak, when you have a hour run to your fishing spot the 8-12 mph difference does matter. If I fished 100% allone I would get the PIV to get in smaller places. This is the 100% top of the line 19 boat in the Industry. Rusty
The P4 is a model that was built to accommodate the anglers who are not wanting a large boat, though seek a small boat with big boat appeal. If you can store a P4, then usually a 20 model will store as well. Thus there was no reason for storage decisions. It is a boat that is a boat decision, and the 200 keeps the boat a bit less in price than a 225 or many variants. Engine and accessory costs can balloon a boat price tag and a P4 lets you make a decision of a 788, HD5 or similar graph, an 80 pound troller and other items that are fine. Where as a 20 model will have you thinking about more whistles and bells, plus a 225 can run up there in relative costs to as much as almost $4,000 more for the 225 over a 200 series. Thus the keeping the boat for a 200 engine in rating. Other factors are the deck lay out and size, as well as cockpit. A p4 is what we term a cockpit boat, being that it is not an open atmosphere. Yet the cockpit is large enough to accommodate the anglers in most cases. We kept it 200 for a reason and many have frequently questioned that decision. We also have no intentions of changing it. BCB
Nicely stated BCB, but i will add that the cockpit really does open up in a single console version. The dual console version makes the boat feel much smaller, and the large console does lend an advantage in electronics choices, which is nice.
I have two boys, age 5 and 3, and I really like the “cockpit” aspect of the boat. You sit more “down in” the boat” I guess you could describe it, than in many other boats, and I like how it gives the kids a little more of an in the boat feeling (which I also like when it gets rough out!). I did have the console out when I first got it, and if I didnt have a wife and kids I would still have it out, but the large consoles do provide alot of protection for your Co angler.
I have an 08 DC and it takes rough water very well, it will store more tackle than most guys can use and with the option of the starboard rod organizer you can carry I think its 18 rods. The 200hp will run it around about 65 to 73 depending on the load and with the stereo option you can listen to all your favorite songs while getting ready for tournies, taking out the family, or just doing some fun fishing. I will tell you from experince, no website or picture does it justice, you have to see it in person08 Bass Cat Pantera IV 08 Mercury 200HP OPTI 08 NISSAN TITAN CC 4×4 07 POLARIS OUTLAW 500
