I was thinking of buying a P2 and I was wondering what people thought about it and how well it rides in rough water. What motor would be the best a Mercury Pro XS or the Yamaha Sho.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just sold my 2015 P2, It had a SHO, hyd plate, 2 Blades, 4 batteries, dual console. Boat ran 71 with just me and 500 pounds tackle. The rig rode excellent in 2 foot chop, no hard hits, I call the ride soft. A excellent platform. I had the SHO, better fuel usage that the merc, same weight and no oil tank, they are about 2k more. I have ordered a Caracal wider platform, more storage 1000 pounds tackle. with a SHO. Good luck with your choice.
PII is a great platform and very quick, especially out of the hole. As far as engine, Merc or Yamaha a good choice. My decision would be based on what my dealer sells/services and is factory certified on. It will handle rough water well. Two foot chop no problem. It will handle 3-4 footers too but you have to slow down and find the speed that will put you on top of the waves if possible. As mentioned they land soft. They have a great layout and lockers can handle 8 rods. A 24 volt TM will be fine for 99% of owners. Shell run with most other brands larger boats with 250 and flat out beat a bunch of them. Mid 70s is common (no PP), low 70s with tourney load. Fury 3 blade seems to be the blade of choice but the 26 3 blade works well too. Depends where your located.

This statement pretty much sums it up
So does it give a dry ride because I had a 19’6” Triton that would get you wet in rough waterSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am on my 9th PII. All have run between 72-75 depending on engine year (all Merc 200 proXS). I love this hull..Super fuel efficiencyand as stated above, a very dry ride and soft ride. I fish the Atchafalaya Basin and Toledo Bend in Louisiana. Let me know if you have any questions
Thanks for the replies they were very helpful.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Its been summed up well here already but Ill add my 2 cents. I think the P-II is the perfect platform for what 90% of the fisherman want to really do. It fishes great, plenty of room. It is small enough to be easy to maneuver through tight places yet big enough to handle rough water and to make long runs. It really just does it all very well. From hole shot to top end to how great it handles on the trolling motor. It is also a very efficient hull and will take you as far on 36 gallons as many rigs with 50 gallons. It is really hard to find a fault in the platform. Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
It has been current since mid 80’s- Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Will have owned my PII for a year in Feb. I am very pleased with it. Great hole shot. Plenty of storage unless you carry a tackle store with you. Running a Merc 200 Pro XS. Fishes great. If you are using the butt seat and have rods on the deck it is kind of cramped.
