You guys thats running this set up are you liking this? What kind of numbers are you all getting? On my last classic I was running a rework 26 tempest by mark croxton that did a great job
On my last 3 PII/200proXS boats I have alternated between the 25 Fury and the 25 Trophy Plus. All 3 boats have run 72-73.7mph (full fuel and empty levels, tournament tackle and two people) with the Fury, and 71-72.5 with the Trophy Plus (same load as above). Jackplate set even (inner/outer plates). In both instances I turn 5750 RPMs. I do find the Fury runs flatter than the Trophy and I love how the Trophy handles on top end (like the boat is riding on a rail). Let me know if you want more info. I have owned and run 6 PII/200Merc combos with the fastest (2013 model) running 76 mph. Currently, my 2016 runs as stated above. Gerard
Thanks, Ive only got about 3-4 hours on this thing and I dont have a lot of lift. I do have a new 24 trophy that I can have reworked. This is my 3rd cat so Im just trying to get a feel on the what would be the best prop on this one. Thanks
The Fury is a great prop for the PII. I agree it does not give the lift that most are accustomed to. The trophy plus in my opinion is the prop for this boat when running the bayous and marsh canals here in south Louisiana. It holds the boat up very well at mid range and top end is not disappointing for a 200. I switch between the two several times per year.
The advantage of the Fury is hole shot and loading the boat on the trailer. I have a 07 Classic (same hull but 400lbs lighter as you know) and can spin the 26P Fury with a fantastic hole shot. It is a little tougher to drive on top and maybe a hair slower. Id think the 25P Fury is probably ideal for the PII with tourney load, might get into limiter alone and light load. But depends on your preference. Faster hole shot (my preference) or a little more speed/stability on top with the Trophy Plus. Pick your poison.
I have a classic (08) with a 2014 Pro XS. I have three props in my basement. 25p Trophy plus, 25p Fury and 26p Fury.First, I ran em all with zero PVS plugs installed.I have been running only the 26P fury (3 blade). Outstanding hole shot and loading, as mentioned. It will hold a steady 18mph with 400 pounds of adults + tackle and full tank (33 gal) of fuel. And the best speed so far has been 78.5 at 5890 rpm (just me + normal tackle + 1/2 tank of fuel). With 2 adults + dog, full tackle and tanks, best speed has been 74.9. The 25p drops about 3mph, all else remains about the same as the 26p. The trophy I do not like. Really weak loading, and hole shot not nearly as good as either fury. Top speed is a bit slower than the 25p fury, maybe 72-73. All of this in air temps between 50 degrees and 80 degrees. No Summer data yet. Cant guarantee all of the above are optimal, I have not spent a ton of time working on top end, just got curious to see what it was capable of.I like the 26p for everything. At about 4200 RPM it runs about 50, which is the sweet spot for optimal fuel usage. Ive never gotten closer than 2mph to the 25p Fury with the trophy. No way I can get anywhere close to the fury running the trophy, and with the results so far, for me the Fury is the clear winner. My wife likes the fact it will run at 20 with zero porpoising or continually having to jockey with the throttle to avoid falling off plane. For pulling “water toys” I might consider a 21P trophy plus. Motor would have enough torque to pull stumps and a slalom skier can swing way wide and not pull it down off of plane.I dont notice any difference in driving quality between the three. Easy to hold the boat rock-solid into the 70s. Have noticed that the 3-blade 26p will go from about 20 or so to over 70 in a 1/4 mile run from where I enter the creek going to the boat ramp until I reach the point where I slow down to turn in toward the dock. Not bad acceleration either when that is the same full fuel load, tackle load, 2 adults + dog. But with empty live well since we are 100% catch and releasers.Last edited by oldtimer57 on March 11th, 2017, 4:44 pm, edited 1 time in total.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
I run the 25 fury. Never in the limiter. My 13 p2 with the Merc runs well with this prop. It does run a little flat. Boat runs 70 – 72ish. Some do run the 26fury with the p2. I havent tried one yet. My buddy has a 26 tempest and a 26 trophy and wants me to try them. For me the 25 does the job. I like the quick hole shot and loading of the 25 fury. I will say at 70 I have very little chine. Though the last little bit requires more “driving”. The only thing with the fury I dont like is the fact it takes a little distance to get top speed.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
OT makes great point about mileage with 26 Fury. Can run 50-55 all day and use very little fuel. Acceleration as mentions is very quick.
Thanks to all that replied and yes the fury has a great hole shot. All you guys running stock props? I guess I like a little more lift than I got just use to the old classic I had and not counting the number of champions that Ive owned. Being an ole truck driver for ever you can just about drive anything. Thanks
Mine is dead stock, right out of the black mercury prop box. My classic doesnt need/like a lot of bow lift via trim.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
