I am looking at an 07 P4. The dealer says it doesnt have bow lift like other boats. If it runs level, how does it keep from spearing waves? Im in Oklahoma, the wind is always an issue.
The P4 is a unique hull built for specific purposes. If will not commonly stick a wave, and it runs like it has a governor on it. It will hit the wall and end the climb. Some are faster, though the design limits them. The hull was built to cater to folks who wanted a big boat ride in a hull smaller than 20 with a smaller engine. We achieved what we were after in the model. Texoma and Eufaula will be fine reservoirs for it. BCB
The PIV is a boat with a great ride with great fishability. With a 200 HPDI your nlooking at a 68 to 72 MPH. Although its not the fastest hull it is without a dought the best riding on the maeket. I have a 2008 PIV with a 200 Yamaha HPDI that I can tke mid 30s for it. Let me know if we can help.Mike
i have an 05 P-IV i bought new with a 200 optimax.i love this boat, great ride and never been wet in it,like he said 68-73
bcdreaming, All written above about the P4 are true. It is a great boat. The best 196″ bar none. I am in Broken Arrow and have an 06 P4. My 5th Basscat. If you havent rode in a P4, we can arrange for a test ride. Suggestion. Have you called Larry Smith Marine in Coweta? They may be able to help in your search. Merry Christmas Steve McLarty
Your dealer said that it didnt have bow lift like the other boats. What he should have said is that is doesnt have as much bow lift as the other Bass Cat Boats. This boat does have some bow lift and is not going to run as flat as some other manufacturers boats. As said above, it is the best riding 19 class boat on the market. If it always blows in Oklahoma, then you cant go wrong with the P4!
I have a 06 PIV and all I can say about the rough water ride is WOW!!! I have taken this boat out in the head of stuff that I would have not attempted in my old boat (30 MPH++ winds) and the ride in the PIV is amazing for a 19.5 ft boat. I have NEVER been wet or felt that the boat was “in over its head.” In addition the PIV fishes HUGE!! The front deck is massive for its length, much bigger than most 20 footers. Unlike other boats, the beam appears to have been carried forward more so that the width of the front deck is second to none for a boat this size. The only down side is that it is not a speed demon, but I didnt care about going 75++, I wanted a 19 ft boat with a large front deck, lots of storage and a great ride, and the PIV fits that to a “T”. Good luck-Joe.
I puchased a 05 P4 in Sept. Only got to put 10 hours on and bam along came winter. Didnt get into any rough water but the ride and handling difference between my 98 P3 are unbelievable. The boat has a 200 Verado on it and the hole shot is great. I was still playing with engine height and props when mother nature shut me down. It was well worth a four day round trip to Mt Home to pick this baby up. Also got to take the factory tour and have some add ons installed. Rob
I ran one in 06 and after running the puma and ftd all I can say is it really fishes much bigger than most. For the speed you can only expect so much from todays 200″s.I put it through some pretty intense boat wakes at Lake of the Ozarks, along with fishing in some 30-45mph winds I NEVER got wet.I do alot of dock fishing, the p4 is very nimble yet extremely stable especially when you have two grown men netting fish.Whoever siad these boats dont lift might have chosen some poor words to describe this boat. You do have to truely learn how to get max performance(packing the air will do the trick which is very easy)out of the 200.My opinion was the 26 trohpy plus, but I am very aware about the proper loading for max perf.Lots of storage for all your fishing needs. If yoyr anywhere close to the MO. border I can meet you at grand or somewhere else to give a demo ride if needed.
I also have a 06 P4. Everything that this is mentioned by these guys is so true. – one mean fishing machine!Your Signature …
