P4 prop question

With all the talk of the Fury prop, I have yet to find anyone running the Fury on the P4. From the topics i have searched everyone says the P4 will “eat” just about any prop you throw at it. So would the same theory hold true in downsizing one size if going from the trophy to the fury on the P4? I am running a 26P trophy, with topend speeds around 72.5 in the winter time with one person and half tanks. Wen running with two people speed drops off considerably- 64-66 depending on conditions. Just looking for better midrange performance. So which Fury prop is recomended for the P4 a 25p or stick with the 26P. And for wat its worth with the 26p Trophy, i get into the rev limiter quite often, I have tried all different jackplate heights and it still hits it, I think the 26p fury would be fine on my setup??

I just purchased a 25P Fury last week for my 06 P4/200 Opti, but no time to put it on yet and test it. I currently have a 26P Temp. What is your current jackplate height on your P4?

Currently jackplate is 1/8th inch inside (lower then) of outer plate, i have tried from almost a half inch lower then the outer plate up to almost a half inch above the outer plate with no real difference in handling, with exception of holeshot. Boat runs well at current setting, but would like to see more mid range acceleration from 40-60 mph.

I would try the 25p Fury, and think it would be best for the P4 from my experience in that boat. The P4 will “eat” almost any prop, but the productive hp range is different on that hull, and i would like to keep my rpms in the 5700 range. The Fury should run great on your boat, and you should have some midrange power increase, although the P4 hull takes a bit longer to get to top lift and speed compared to other BCB hulls. I miss my P4 layout and storage ! Im now in a Cougar AE, and still dont know where im gonna put my net ! D.

Well, in the garage, I just torqued the 25P Fury to 55 ft lbs on the P4. Came inside to look at the weather on line. Looks like a wind advisory on the lake. 17 mph now, 33 mph in a few hours…. I think I will wait to let the P4 “eat” another day. Last edited by brewcat on December 9th, 2008, 11:50 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Brewcat- Please post your numbers when you get the chance. And Doug I agree i would like to keep the RPMS around the 5700 range, so it does sound like the 25 might be the correct choice.

Those S.Texas lakes can get a bit rough in a wind like that. Good thing youre in a P4 ! I know someone who would go run the boat just to say he did it ! D.

I think I will save the Fury performance checkout in those 5-6 footers, till the day I need to get back to the ramp with a limit.
