Padded Carpet?

Ok.. love my Cat.. Always have, always will.. I have a 2007 Puma. Today I had a video shoot for a sponsor of mine. I had to fish out of another boat. It was a Ranger… Didnt like the boat near as much as I like mine, but the front deck had padded carpet. Which was awesome.. I mean, awesome. Sooo comfortable. Has anyone ever put the padded deck on a cat and how much did it cost you.. Really only want the front of the boat, from the edge of the compartments forward.. so its really probably only about 8-10 square feet at most? From the seat post forward if that makes sense.. I made a quick call to a place up here and they gave me a quote of $1200.. which I thought was NUTS!!!!Anyone had this done? I have lower back problems, and this felt so good.OR, is there a pad I can put on top of my carpet that would still look nice?Thanks for all the help!

I think Rick told me the reason they dont do this, is that once the padding compresses over time, and it will, the carpet begins to wrinkle. I am sure BCB will correct me if I am wrong. Rick spent almost an hour with me one day going over dozens of questions I had about stuff like this. It is amazing that so much of what BC does is for a reason. Not just because, but because its what is right!britt

I can understand that it will compress and wrinkle over time.. So, replace it every 4-5 years.. if it costs $500 I would do it.. But if there is something you can put on top? maybe snap down? I dont know? Maybe a foam like in weight rooms? just thinking outside the box.. Thanks Gasbasser for the quick reply..

That is the reason that BCB does not offer padded decks. The warranty and customer frustration. The foam padding releases from the deck or glue and wrinkles. The opinion of those inside of BCB is this is more of a hindrance than a feature. They tend to try and reduce the service and the foam padded decks require service. This was started by a now defunct company, and in the early days it was easier as the glue was not regulated from certain VOCs by EPA. They had problems with it too, though not at the level it presents today. BCB always tries to reduce issues.

I agree it would be nice, but it sure is nice to have someone trying to decrease things that break.britt

How about a premium pair of shoes …. a lot easier and more practical solution…just a thought!

BassCats carpet is thicker to begin with. Seems like that would add a little padding.

I have a fishing buddy that has a Ranger Z21 and the carpet is releasing from the rubber padding all over the front and back deck. It looks terrible. The boat also has 15 different cracks.on the top cap. Keep in mind this is a guy that babies his boat. If someone gave me a Ranger, I would sell it immediately.

I know, shoes are an easier answer.. I have the Shimano(one of my sponsors) croc type shoes. They are great, but it was 92 today with a heat index of 102 here in Minnesota.. and for us that feels like 190… Plus I tend to fish bare foot a lot.. even when its in the 70s. Probably not the best practice to do.I still cant believe there is not some sort of snap down overlay that would work?
