I have a 94 P II that I looking for and idea on seats,I dont care much for the full bench seat and I like to have a step in the middle. Has anyone changed the seat style in there cats?

You can use any seat, assuming you want buckets? but you have to build a short platform to bolt the seat to, which will allow it to go over the raised lip. Now u can hinge it like the bench. Do the seats first then build your step. I think I would build up the platform using fiberglass sheets with aluminum plate sandwiched in for support and front and rear lip, so you can bolt thru or rivet the hinge. Hopefully you have the same image in your head that I have. Hope this helps!Pete

Another thought would be same idea but use poplar wood and sandwich with fiberglass

I dont mind the bench seat, what I dont like is the fact I have to step up onto the seat to get up onto the back deck. I need to get my seats redone so I was thinking about shorting the bench seat on each side adn adding a “box” in the middle between the two parts.

With 2 openings I am not sure how u would keep it dry??

I have an idea!! Just remove the center back rest and make a longer back rest, which can be secured to back with screwed and glued hinge that will normally be folded down to step on hard back , and can be turned up if you have 3 in the boat.

It has 2 openings now that fit pretty tight togather. I was thinkng about keeping the back rest in the middle and adding a step in between the set, aslo thinking about shorting the seats and making them water tight somehow.

I made a sketch it is in my profile pictures, you will kinda see what I am referring to fold down back rest. I do have another idea if you wanted buckets, but kinda labor intense.
