Pantera 2 hopping

I have a 07 pantera 2 with a 200 optimax. Having an issue with the boat hopping or porpoising at 60-70 mph. I can sometimes get it to stop but i am over trimmed and lose speed. Have a manual jackplate set at flush with a 25 fury. Was wondering if any body else is experiencing this and what to do to stop it. Would a hydrualic plate help? Any help greatly appreciated.

For starters what are you referring to flush? Is it set like the picture below?

Yes its set exactly like the picture. Also the hopping is worse on smooth water.

It doesnt have one of those aftermarket hydrofoil fins like a stingray on it does it?

I have seen that problem before. I solved it by lowering my jack plate another 1/16″ to 1/8″. I think the prop was trying to hold up the nose and losing its grip. I would give that a try. edit: My boat is a Classic and not a P2 so might not apply to your situation. ccfish, The Pantera II hull seldom has anything like you have described. Are you the original owner and has there been any hull work done such as a repair? BCB

I have a 2011 PII and have had the same thing happen with a 25p fury with two people in boat. I do not have it happen with my 26p fury. My jack plate is about 1/2″ above factory. Havent tried to move plate as i run the 26 all the time. I have no idea as to why the prop change helped but it did. Good luck!!

Not the original owner bought it about 3-4 months ago. It did have afew chips on the bottom i had repaired but nothing major and it was hopping before the repairs. Other than the hopping i love the boat. It does nott have the hydrfoil fin.

Number 1: if your boat is porpoising you dont stop by trimming up. The way to stop the porpoising is to trim the motor down, that forces thenose down wihich will stop it. Number 2: if someone worked on the hull they may have taken the built in wedges off the rear just outside thepad. Those are built into the hull to stop the exact problem you are having. I have a Jaguar and I know they are different hulls but I dont think I could make porpoise if I tried.Johnny

Rick V, When u say a 1/2″ above factory do you mean a 1/2″ above flush also hows your hole shot and top end with the 26 compared to the 25
