Theres a length difference in the P-2 and P-4.Is there a noticable difference in the way they can handle rough water? How about fishability?
I have drove both and rode in both. They are both awesome boats!!! You cant go wrong with ether one. When I was looking it was down to a new P2 OR P4. Depends on what you are looking for.P2 19.1 FeetP4 19.5 FeetP2 is faster, lighter, more bow lift, takes rough water well, raised deck, and a little less as far as price. GREAT BOATP4 is heavier, takes rough water better, wider beam, more storage, has the puma lay out, and has a great ride. GREAT BOAT!!!! In my opinion its like a Champion/Ranger ride. I had a Ranger and my buddy ownes a Champion. The ref of the other boats is just to try and tell them about the feel and ride of the boat. Now the Cats turn on a dime nothing compares!!They both fish great but I lean to the P4 for fishability.I like the ride of the P4 over all of them.Last edited by Guest on January 31st, 2013, 1:57 am, edited 2 times in total.
Funny you mention Champion. Im letting go of my 1996 191 DCX Elite/Merc 200EFI and going to replace it with —-probably a Pantera 4 Advantage. My old Champ is a great rough water boat. The fishability probably wont compare to the P4.
If you end up in a P4 you will know what I mean. It rides like one but drives, corners, and diff goes a lot faster.Maybe I am trying to say the Ranger and Champion rides like the Cat! This is just my way of comparing them. I owned and rode in both before my cat. So people dont take this wrong!!To me NO OTHER BOAT can ride like this with the speed. Thats any BCB model. You will love fishing out of it. Years ago the 1st thing I noticed about BassCat when I really started to get into them was the recessed trolling motor well. Its gives you more deck and space. That alone makes it fish bigger and better in my opinion!!P2 OR P4 you will likes!Last edited by Guest on January 31st, 2013, 5:18 pm, edited 3 times in total.
Eek, never been in a “C” boat that had all that great a ride. Not nearly as solid a boat as a Bass Cat. I remember seeing their booth at the Classic once where they had the cap off one of their boats (not a cross-section, like many boat companies do for display — the cap was detached and hinged up on one side off the hull). Looking into the boat I couldnt believe theyd want people to see them put together like that. Not tryin to start quarrels here, though. Havent been in one that was produced since they became part of Genmar (or PE since then) so perhaps theyre made better now.
Yes I am a P4 junky !!!!
Owned two P2s a 2008 and 2011 model. Currently own a PIV. The boats are different. The P2 has a sports car drive and feel. It handles big water well but there really is no comparison between it and the PIV. I have to say the PIV in my opinion handles rough stuff as well as most twenty footers. Its a different ride as it doesnt have the lift like the P2 and runs flatter. The PIV fishes big for a 19 boat and has a ton of storage and the front deck is very large. It will run out in the 68-70 range loaded down with a partner. The PIV is much more boat than the P2. Get the PIV if you can.
Ditto on the P4, nothing comparable in the 195″ category, nothing. And after fishing out of a P4 for a few months you need to get in a P2,,,,youll think you are in a canoe by comparison ! The only thing wrong with a P4 is it could use 25 more ponies !
Well I took the advice of this forum—Kinda, had my mind made on the P-4 in the begining—. Went to the Dealer and ordered a 2013 Bass Cat Pantera 4 Advantage Elite. Pretty jacked right now, there telling me that in possibly 6 weeks it could be arriving at there shop. Yeah Man!!
Congrats! That is going to be one awesome boat. That 6 weeks has a tendency to turn into 8+ weeks….lol.
