Looking to order a 2019 Pantera Classic…but I just cannot get beyond that hook graphic on the top cap (looks cheesy). I understand it is built into the mold, but is there a way of having that taped off so that it would just blend into the color of the top cap? Also…curious about the 3″ channel trailer as being standard…yet the dealers that sell them have upgraded all of their trailers to the 4″. What is the point of the 3″ channel? The Pantera II comes with the 4″ channel trailer and is a smaller boat.
Here is Sherm’s take on the 3 inch vs the 4 inch

I have sold both the 3″ & 4″ trailers under the Classic.. Have had no issues at all with the 3″ frames w/
14″ tires but as for looks there is no doubt the 4″ w/15″ tires just looks a whole lot tougher. I think either will do the job just fine and depends on your budget.. The 3″ standard saves you a bunch a money and also lightens the tow load.

The dealers in some markets have made decisions with upgrading to 4″ frames. We feel that is both market and representative related. Most are sold with the 3″ frame and we have not had an issue with those frames to date.
As for the hook, it is in all product and they have not yet ran the stripe full across without it, nor do they offer it that way.

Funny you mention the hook on the new Classics . I felt the same way and never would consider a new classic for that reason .

So if a customer does not want something as hokey as the hook on the side of the hull nothing can be done to have that not appear? A piece of tape across the trim stripe in that area would resolve that. Usually when a manufacturer builds something it is due to customer demand. Was there a demand from potential owners to put a hook on the side of the hull? That one thing is a deal breaker for me (and it seems to be for others too) for a Bass Cat. I need a narrower boat to fit in my garage which is the ONLY reason I am looking at the Pantera Classic. So let me ask you this…
People are not buying this boat because of the hook. How many will not buy the boat if the hook isn’t there? Think about that one….
I agree, the hook needs to go. Love the Classic, hate the hook.
You guys are crazy. The hook is awesome. I honestly can’t understand how a simple graphic of something you use every time you bring the boat out of the garage is a “deal breaker” on a boat. It is one of the things that make the boat stand out from the crowd of cookie cutter bass boats. Only reason I didn’t end up with one this spring is because I would have had to do an extensive garage reno to make it fit, to the point where it would have been more than 50% of the purchase price of the boat.
A Bass cat passing all those “other” boats on pad while displaying the “Bass cat bolt” on the side is selling more boats than a cheesy fish hook graphic will .
There are those who don’t mind the hook in the middle opinion section. Those that don’t like the hook are emphatic we find, and those who admire it are less enthusiastic. If any of us don’t admire (insert like here) something, we tend to be more vocal than those who admire (insert like again) something.
The hook has reached a definite contingency that has opposition to it. It is hard to do, it was very hard to model (tool) in the plug and it is extremely difficult to color and tape.
This leads us to a crossroad.

Here is how I see it. If the hook is so cool then put it on every model! I am not interested in the Pantera Classic because of the price point. My boat (if ordered) will cost as much if not more than the other larger boats. I want the Pantera Classic because it will fit through the garage door without having to worry about just having 1″ or room to play with in getting it in the garage. The garage door on my 3-car that this would go in is a 8′ door…the Pantera Classic for being a 19’+ boat fits that opening perfectly. Can’t store it outside because I can’t, and would not do that anyway. Don’t want a smaller boat.
I like things to look clean. The hook is a deal breaker for me on this boat because to me it looks dorky…that is my taste and you do not have to agree with it but it seems that I am not the only one. Maybe someone thought it would look cute…and again…if it was on every other model Cat then so be it…but it is on the boat that I would like to order/buy but if this is going to be on the boat and to stick out like it does then this is not going to be the boat I get.
Wow. A small graphic will cause you to buy an inferior brand? I have NEVER liked 100% of anything I bought, unless it was something that could be highly customized when ordering. And even then there were always minor things I would have changed if I could.
Sorry, but this does NOT sound like a serious complaint. Quite a few have complained about asymmetry in the BCB hulls (the offset on the nose, for example, to perfectly center the T.M. with the keel. They STILL buy the boat because of the quality, and learn that that asymmetric nose has a noticeable handling advantage when the T.M. is down. I don’t like that “M” logo on top of the mercury pro XS cowl. Dirt/bug/etc catcher. Would not be something that would make me switch to another brand, however.

It’s not your money, your taste, etc. I asked if that one aspect could be masked off so that it did not show on the boat that I want. As far as the Mercury logo you can remove that if you like…you have that option. I have owned Bass Cat’s in the past so I know the quality of the boat. If I am going to spend over $50K I do not want to see that hook on the side of my boat. I am not alone in this so this is just not my own choice/taste. The hook graphic serves nothing to make the boat better in anyway. It comes down to individual taste…so the bigger question is if there are people who will not buy this boat because of that hook then why have it? Like I asked already…is someone NOT going to buy the boat because it does not have a hook graphic in the top cap?
Some don’t like the hook. Some don’t like the bolt. Some don’t like the asymmetric front end. Some don’t like lots of different things. If a “hook” is a deal breaker it was not a very serious “deal” in the first place.
Personally I like the hook a lot but if I didn’t and still wanted the boat I’d simply get the rig and use some kind of Bass Cat decal, maybe a raised one, to cover the hook with. I’m sure there’s ways to put something over it very inexpensive that if placed properly/evenly on both sides doubt seriously if anyone would even notice it?

I personally like the hook, can’t you just put a decal of something you do like over it?
