Congrats on the P II. A great boat! First, dont do anything. How long have you had the boat and it is out of the break in period? If so, next would be to get seat time on the rig…what engine? Finally, play with the PVS system on the prop to improve holeshot. You can expect a little blowout when the bow “breaks over” from the angled in the air position, but should not “stall” at that point. Others will help you out …………96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
yes it is broke in, 200 opti , should it not run faster than 71, would a 27p prop help?
What kind of load are we talking about? What is your propshaft to pad height? Do you have much steering torque? All things considered, there may be more people that can help, but getting the info out there is a start. 96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
fully loaded with gear, full of gas,a little steering touque but not bad, 2 1/2 below pad
We assume it is a newer model in a 2007 – 2010 year model. It sounds like your running pretty good, though perhaps a few plugs and maybe dropping it a shade on the engine height. Thats where we would start.
If you really want to get more speed out of it get you a 26 Fury. Ive had experience w/ a P2 and a 27 Tempest and it would run mid 70s. A 26 Fury should be better for hole shot than the 27 Tempest. Or you can lower the engine on the jack plate w/ current prop and see what that does for you. Move in 1/4″ increments.
thanks guys i try it if it ever quits raining where i live
Its a 08 ,10hrs on motor
I would like to know how you get 6000 rpm out of that motor I am running the same boat and motor and I only get 5450 rpm out of mine. I have a 25 fury on it and it runs 71 gps.
Yes and no to the speed. BassCat prefers to be conservative on speed estimates. I would think you would see 72-73 set up properly with skilled driver input. Sometimes more.http://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/1883. Price the boat with NADA since you didnt list a price we cant offer an opinion. It does sound like it is loaded pretty good though.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
The speed all depends on the load, weather, and the driver. On average I see around 68-70 mph with my 08 PII with a 200 Opti but that is with two big guys, 20 or so plano boxes, 15 rods, tons of soft plastics and fuel. If you take the weight out of the boat then you will have a mid 70s boat easily. TnSabre on here has an 07 PII that he has gotten 76 out of before but with a light load and just one person in the winter when the temps were lower.
i have a 09 PII with a opt. on it…and with me and a tournment load i have seen 74.5…and that is straight out of the box with no adjustments.and with a two guys and full load it will go 71..you do have to drive them a little at those speeds but not bad.
thanks alot for the info guys..

Yes there are a ton of options and they all add up to be many thousands of dollars. What works for one may not be in your budget nor it be a need for you. However, if you load it up, then you wont have regrets two or three years from now.
