Yall, Im thinking about installing an additional graph/gps at the console of my Pantera IV. Ive got a Humminbird in the dash, but would like to add a Lowrance lcx-28 or lcx-38. Have any of yall had success using a RAM mount to install on the handrail? Anything I need to consider if I decide to go this route? What is the biggest unit that can securely be mounted in this manner? Recommended mount? Are there potential interference issues with the transducer that I should worry about and plan around? Thanks in advance for your input. Patrick

I put a 522iC lowrance on an atv mount on the rail of my p4. Used the U bolt mount (1/2 or 3/4? Ball). Snaked wires to sump via gunnel/ hull where the wires already run under shifter. Had just enough room to put transducer down and put 5lb dumbell on top of transducer. I dont know about larger unit than the 522. Not sure you could get enough compression on the 2 small ball joints for the larger units in rough water. I had images of mine busting on the outside of the hull with the wires still attached if I had a larger unit. WardC.O.D. Jr. III

The rail mounts work well for most applications. The X27 and 28 series are what we would say are top of the spectrum for weight hung out there. We think it will do fine on most waters. If your at the great lakes, we would not.
