We obviously prefer Southco, though at the time Perko was the only solid option.

We use Southco hardware on a lot of the items we build for the military. They are very durable items for sure!!

The latches get bent sometimes and they bind up, otherwise there is no adjustment.

If youre referring to the black plastic Perkos with the chrome handle, they have a set screw on the back that tightens down on the flat side of the threaded shaft. Mine are adjustable anyway.In case theyre bent,If its the threaded shaft on the lock thats noticeably bent Ive straightened mine by taking a crescent wrench and placing it on the flat side of the stem and slowly bending it back straight. If its the actual latch piece with the set screw on the back you can remove it and straighten it using a vise and a crescent, or by placing a pry bar or 1×4 between the edge of the lid and the latch. Just be slow and careful. Its made of cast aluminum.

https://www.basscatstore.com/chromeperkolock.aspxI replaced my old latches with these. My old latches had a ring to turn to lock and unlock. If this is what you have, you will need an air grinder and reamer bits to remove some material to make them fit. Just go slow and do not make the holes larger than you need. Then you will have to figure out which bottom cam you will need.A bit messy, but well worth the effort. Allan was a big help in parts.George

The factory still has Perko latches and locks available.
