PII ride vs. classic ride and top speeds?

curious on the ride on these two vs. each other and their respective top speeds. i rode in a 08 classic yesterday and it ran nice. rougher than that jaguar last week, but still nice. thanks for your replies in advance

Im not an expert by any means, but Ill tell you what I do know. The classic and P2 are built on the same hull, but have a different deck layout. The classic has a little less storage up front, which equals less weight up front, and will run maybe 1-2 mph faster. The P2 has the added storage up front, and the added bracing will allow it to ride a little smoother. Basically, I think they both run very similar with minor differences. I believe the jaguar you are comparing to is a larger boat, and would naturally ride smoother than either of these two. Good luck. KentKent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax

I just bought my first bass boat, 07 Classic w/ 200 Opti. I have had it out a handful of times, and only really opened it up about 3 times. I had it up to 72 (two people, 3/4 tank of gas, tackle but no water in livewells), had water been smoother and I had more experience behind the wheel, I feel comfortable 75 is achieveable. I have a friend who drives one of the lead sleds the same size as mine and I think the ride in my classic is much, much more smoother than his. I think the Classic and PII actually have same hull, so prob same ride. I may be wrong, but think the PII maybe a mph or two slower than the classic. I love my classic and I feel it is one of the best buys on the market, but I sure do love the PII layout. If money were no object and I could get any boat of choice, I would be in a PII. Kent and I posted ours at the same time, but I agree w/ him 100% and bigger boat is naturally going to ride better.

Bigger is not always better. I went out with a guide a few weeks ago in a 21 foot N boat. After we were done we took my P-2 out and there was no comparison. The P-2 was by FAR the better riding boat. I think to make a fair comparison you really have to ride boats one right after the other — same conditions, apples to apples.

P2 vs. Classic Very similar ride, very similar top end speed. Kent is correct in his comparison and the whys?

The P2 has more storage and a nice sized cooler. Also it has no rails. It rides very well and coming out of a Puma to the P2 I was very impressed with how it rides and handles compared to the 20 boats. Seems to fish bigger than a 19 boat.

My feeling is unless youre completely stretching your budget with the purchase, the P-2 is the way to go. Maybe the Classic is a tiny bit faster top end, but I dont think from what Ive heard enough to buy the model for that. But Ive also heard, that once you start adding options, the Classic starts costing as much as a P-2.
