I have a 06 PIV with the two 10 gallon saddle tanks and Tach/Speedo Smart Craft Guages. Looking to see how most PIV owners with same fuel tank configuration set up their fuel tank gauges in the calibration mode. 1 – Do you set up as tank 1 with 33 gallons and tank 2 for oil? (not reading fuel in saddle tanks) 2 – Do you set up as tank 1 with 53 gallons and tank 2 for oil? 3 – Do you set up both tanks for fuel, tank 1 with 33 gallons and tank 2 for 20 gallons and no oil level reading? I have yet to have the tanks empty to perform the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full calibration steps per the manual but I (think) they are self calibrated just by adjusted the tank size in the cal 2 mode? I think I would prefer step 2, but I still need to find out if that will work.Note – I do not have the Monitor 2.00 – 3.00 indicator, just the tach/speedo smart craft indicators.
The Sending Unti and Gauges should be in sync to some degree new on a 2006, as you have WEMA fuel tank senders. The other we will leave for those who have to comment on usage. BCB
I have tank 1-2-and oil, i dont know how youre trying to set up, but one and two are just separated by the dash switch, and read on same smartcraft setting, then the oil tank is separate. D.
D, I understand what you are saying but… it is kicking my #%$!! Im pretty sure, I currently have 19 gallons in main and 10 gallons in saddles of gas. So with that being said….If I set up tank 1 to 33 gal and tank 2 to 3 gal (oil)… when I am on the fuel page and change from 1 to tank 2 on the control panel, gauge reading stays at 19 gallons. If I set up tank 1 to 53 gal and tank 2 to 3 gal (oil)… when I am on the fuel page and change from 1 to tank 2 on the control panel, reading stays at 29 gallons. I guess in what I am trying to say is, no matter what way I configure the smart gauges, the red fuel tank dash switch on control panel, does not change anything on the smart gauges when I select from 1 to 2 or 2 to 1…….. Any idea what I am doing wrong?Last edited by basscatsmeow on April 17th, 2008, 2:15 pm, edited 1 time in total.
I may be wrong here but I believe you have to set up to read percentages. I know that is what I had to do on my 06 Puma. Hope this helps??

I am thinking that is if you have the 3rd smart gauge? That is the Monitor 2.0/3.0? I only have the tach/speedo smart gauges. I am unable to find any pages on the tach/speedo for percentages… just total of gallons in tank(s)D, If you would like, anyway you could send me your cell in a PM? I could call you and we could go over the setup while sitting in our boats, if possible ?
Well, all I have are the two guages, speedo and tach. I could always set the Gallons for the tank underneath the seat but could never get a reading on the rear tanks until I switched to percentages. Then I could see how much I had in front and rear by switching tanks on dash. I dont remember actually reading anything on this (and Im not at my boat or manual) but, it did come up on the guage. It actually shows a little less than actual to keep you from running out.
Another silly question….How do you switch to “percentages” on the speedo/tach for the fuel page? I cannot find it on the guages or the book.
I wish I could remember off the top of my head but I just cant. I will look tonight when I get home if you would like. Its really not hard but I just cant remember. Sorry…
You only have two gauge options on the SC gauges, eitehr two (2) fuel tanks, which we dont use, or one oil and one fuel. That is the simplest explanation we can give on the differences. We do not use the two fuel, as we use the switch in the dash for that exchange. The other we use for digital oil, which if BCB installed the system, it has a digital oil tank with sender. We only suggest the percentages (%) on the gauges in the fuel tanks, as the tanks are different capacities in the fuel tanks. The Cougar models and single tank versions are all that can use the gallons on the fuel tanks. There is an in depth PDF of the Smart Craft gauges on line somewhere in the Mercury site. BCB
