Mt buddy and I are headed to Falcon Lake Zapata, TX the 18th thru 25th of October. I have made reservations at the Best Western Lakeside, but does anyone who has been there have a recommendation. It looks like places to stay are filling up pretty fast. I am sure looking forward to this trip. About the only thing that is questionable is lake levels. The ramps need water on them. Need rain and lots of it. Down about 30 ft now.Jim Whitman
We go every year, wont be back for a few years… Dont want to be the bearer of bad news, but that Lake has gone downhill significantly in the past few years. We usually stay at the Lakeview Motel, right across from Best Western. Good luck to you man
The lake has fallen off in the last few years and I havent been in a lil over a year. I stay at Jamess place that owns FLT if you looking for a low priced place stay at Oso Blanco for a newer cleaner place Sun Bridge is nice. A guide there has a super nice place for rent and is always on fish he goes by Bassin Billy. I am headed to Falcon Sept 2-6 I will report back on the fishing. For daily reports go to Falcon Lake and Tackle website.
My brother and I stayed at sun bridge. It was good. Caught my best ever 9lb 15oz there. Use Roberts tackle shop for guiding. Robert owns the store, runs his guide service and they have a nice little restaurant behind the tackle store. The lady that owns sun bridge is supportive of her customers and watches for any signs of problems. Falcon lake tackle is a nice store too.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I went last Spring and fished with Gary Harlan(BassCat guy) and also Tommy Law. Tommy has a house called the Bass Shack that we stayed in and if I ever go back that is where I will say again. It has several beds and everything a group could ever want. Hope you catch more than we did, we caught several big uns just not the numbers.Good luck!
Look at Tackleandrods.com for ramp info. If you can launch at the state park then we like to stay at Falcon Heights motel, its really rustic but Carlos is a good guy. If you cant launch down there then we stay at Beacon Lodge.
x2 on Sunbridge. I had to leave a couple of days early during our trip and the woman that helped me was just as pleasant as she could be.Last edited by Macsimus on July 29th, 2014, 12:03 pm, edited 1 time in total.
