Again love this forum but i have a question since im new to jackplates and all that . When i have my wife and my son in the boat it seems it takes for ever to plane out and i have the hotfoot all the way down . Been told i need a different prop 1996 Pantera 2 with 200 hp Mercury . also when i load my boat back on the trailer i usually make the boat push it self up on it and it wouldnt even do that had the motor checked all compressions are good . Had someone tell me that its my RPM setting Now when it gets up to plane i run about 58 to 64 depends on the water . What am i doing wrong or is something set wrong who can i get to fix it ???

I have the same problem getting on plane with my 98 Pantera 2 with a 200 Mariner. I have a 4-blade 25P trophy prop. Ive only had the boat out 4 times so far. When Im alone the holes shot is great. When I get a 2nd person in the boat it takes forever. My partner had to get stand on the front deck one time to get me on plane. My motor is set around 3 7/8″ below pad.

Sorry Guys, Your 200s are weak on the bottom. Not an issue with the motor its just the nature of tht 2.5 liter motors. You may have to drop an inch in pitch on your prop to help you planing issues. The bogging when loading onto the trailer is an issue with the Trophy props. I prefer the trophys for overall performance but you will have to get used to the loading issue. A 24 fury may solve all of your problems but if you find a 24 temptest or trophy prop they will work as well. I put a 3.0 liter on my boat this year and it took care of all these issues. NJBass i hear you that is what i did and it worked great thats why i thought it may be a prop issue or jack Plate so i guess i feel better knowing im not the only guy having the issue . Shap what model number did you put on your boat is the 3.0 a 200 HP or is it a 225 ?? im going to have do something !!!

On a 1996 model there are too many variables to assess on an open forum. There are a litany of items that could be an issue. We dont want to sound gruff, or short, though what prop, history on the boat. How long have you owned it and more.

I know this is an old topic but I thought I would post a follow up. I was having serious problems getting on plane. Well I finally got around to changing the plugs on my motor (1998 mariner 200hp) and had a chance to get out on the water this weekend. Its like I put a new motor on the back of my boat. My holeshot was awesome!!!! I cannot believe the difference a new set of sparkplugs can make. Full tournament load and a partner that weighed close to 350lbs and the boat was jumping on plane.
