I NEED HELP……….I JUST DO NOT ON WHY MY BOAT HAS BEEN FOR SALE SO LONG AND NOT SOLD. IT IS A VERY NICE- -2007 PUMA / 250 YAMAHA 186 HOURS ON MOTOR. I LIVE IN DAYTON OHIO.PRICE 28,900.00. PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR INPUT.THIS IS A SERIOUS QUESTION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
I think economy and motor warranty are challenges. Also, you are in Ohio which makes it difficult to demo your boat. Have you tried Craigslist and BassClub websites? I know Craigslist helped me tremendously on my Certificate sale. I have no other explanation. That is a rocking boat for sure…..
shart59, We dont know what other web sites you have used, and we know you intensely would like to move your rig for personal reasons. Your for sale post is now 6 pages long, and this is lengthy. First a revised web posting helps, delete the old one and place a new one up with images first, then limited information in line item format. Which is the way you have it listed, though put the image up FIRST! Then list other images below that in another reply post, or better yet link them to your gallery where and interested party can go see all they want without having to load the images on the for sale post. Next try other sites like BFHP, and use Phils Impact fishing site and direct people to that if you have not. Then use Boat Trader, BFHP, Bass Boat Central and others. One of the sites we like is Pro Bass. That seems to get some returns occasionally. We dont think your rig is the issue, though the management and perhaps location. The rigs are selling as you can see, and you are well below what you should ask for this rig. Put a number on it that is above where you are and create a new advertisement post. No reason to give it away and loose cash. Your rig looks clean and will move if the right person finds it. You know we have pointed a few to it, though otherwise we cant answer. We are sure it is frustrating to watch other rigs sell and yours not when the obvious value you have on condition might be above others. Best wishes! BCB
As BCB said…other boats are selling, it just takes time. Your rig should sell at the price it is, plus its a nice Cat. I tried to sell my Baycat for about 2.5 months. Thats harder to move than a bassboat. Rick and others at BCB suffered through my griping, etc and gave me good suggestions, but I wanted to get another CougarFTD too bad to wait it out. So I traded mine in, finding a BCB dealer to take it on trade wasnt easy either. I did fine on the deal though. This spring in Ohio, you should be able to move it. The economy is bad, thats an understatement I guess, and buyers really seem to want you to give a boat away. Many are just sitting and waiting, for what I dont know. You may want to consider trading it, if you just dont want to wait for it to sell. There are several left over 09s and even some 08s out there. (See BCB thread on remaining inventory) You may have to travel some distance though. To me that wasnt an issue, The last two Cats I purchased, I got from 12 hours or more away.Last edited by billius on February 14th, 2010, 5:00 pm, edited 1 time in total.
THIS IS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT BASS CAT. ALL OF THE RESPONSE SO FAST. I KNOW WHY I HAVE HAD TOO BASS CATS AND HOPE TO ALWAYS HAVE ONE GREAT BOATS AND GREAT PEOPLE. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR. MY WIFE JUST READ THIS AND TOLD ME NOW SHE UNDERSTANDS A LITTLE BETTER WHY I LOVE BASS CAT SO MUCH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWERS.
I have had my Skeeter up since November. With very little interest. Just recently the calls and emails have increased. BBC and Craigs list have pulled the interest from the farthest away. I think I have my Skeeter sold now, which is good cause I ordered a Jag last week. Mine was probably over priced up front. It is still cold here but the boats shows and open houses have just concluded and people are starting to look. Financing used rigs has been tough around here (SC) also. Hang in there, I was getting frustrated and now things are looking up. Britt
I agree with BCB. You need a new ad. Delete the old one and start over. Also take some new pictures at different angles. Pictures sell boats on the net. Make sure your boat is clean and all the compartments are clean. No gear in them. Take pictures of every area on the boat inside and out. When one lasts as long as yours and goes 6 pages it gets a stigmatism. People look at it and say “Whats wrong with it?” Even though it is a perfectly clean and well maintained rig. Put it on Craigslist and Bass Boat Central. Good Luck.
Shart, I think it is based on your location. Before I got into my Sabre, I had my boat listed for five months on Craigslist before it finally sold. People around here dont want to look for a boat during the months of Oct. through Feb. especially with todays economy. Luckily I found a guy from TN to buy my boat that was willing to meet me half way on travel.Be patient and use all the resources that BCB suggested.
Theres a lot of work that goes into selling a boat. Post your boat for sale in as many number of places as possible. As BCB stated you now have 6 pages of replies on an ad that is over 1 year old. The big red flag goes up on the age of the ad and the number of replies. If you were in the market and lived more than a few hours away, what would your initial thoughts be about the boat youre selling? My thoughts are “something is wrong with this one”. New pictures are needed. Your pictures are over a year old as well. A lot can happen to a boat in a year and those pictures need to show the condition of the boat. Pictures of your boat at all angles, detail pictures, and pictures that others dont have always help give a better description of what youre trying to sell. Though, your biggest problem is likely your location and the current weather. Even down south the winter has been brutal and not all are in the fishing mood just yet. Throw in a bad economy, difficulty in getting loans, and the number of other boats that are in the market makes your situation a bit more difficult. Good luck.
Like they said delete your add and start over here, then try all the websites out there, bassboatcentral is where i have the best luck and here, probass.com is free to list, texas fishing forumns in the misc section is free or you can become a sponsor and place in the boats for sale. Louisianasportsman.com is free for an add, boattrader.com is good but it cost about a hundred dollars.
